Apologies if this has already been discussed but I am still having difficulties with TV since the great 'upgrade'.

This relates to the early release of William Thomas Douglas, an Australian, who killed American tourist Gary Poretsky and the fact that, following a travesty of a court case when Douglas received a ridiculously short sentence, apparently after 'oiling a few palms', he has now been given a pardon and has walked free--Mr. Poretsky's mother is understandably vexed.

Anyone know why he got pardoned?

OK--close this topic now, then.

[Actually I spotted that in the article--just wondered if anyone had any details]

He should have gotten a death sentence. Screw the bastard.

I seem to recall at the time, that he was rumoured/acknowledged to be a police informant/stooge?

But whichever way this is presented, it is outrageous to allow him out for a cold blooded murder with a gun.

There is nothing at this point that is actually against rules..but would likely need a lot of watching over.

BUT, seeing as the link to the other thread that is running this topic has been posted, im closing this one.

Please continue the discussion on the other thread.

Thanks.
