Hello,

I am an American (under 50 years old) married to a Thai. We have 2 dual citizen children. I have amultiple entry Non Immigrant O Thai visa. I just arrived in Thailand. I will go to my embassy this week to get my ( American derived ) income letter.

I will have to apply for a 90 day extension of stay any time within the last 30 days of the initial 90 days upon arrival in to the Kingdom.

Questions :

Do I actually have to leave Thailand every 90 days or just report to immigration every 90 days?

If I have to leave the country and re-enter every 90 days, do I still have to report to a immigration office?

My wife and I were married in Chonburi province. We live in Ubon Ratchathani province. Do I have to report in person to a Chonburi province immigration office every 90 days?

Is the initial income letter I receive this week good for all 4 extensions of my Thai visa?

Thanks in advance

You have a Multi Entry Non O Visa.

This gives you unlimited entries into the Kingdom for 12 months.

Each entry has a limit of 90 days. This means that you have to exit the country at least every 90 days. You do not have to report to Immigration. You do not need an Income letter from the Embassy.

Do your last entry just before the Visa expires and you will get another 90 days. Giving a total of 15 months.

You can if you wish apply for a 12 month extension from Immigration. This would need the income letter plus a few other things. You would then have to report to Immigration every 90 days and not have to leave the Country.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Wow!

I have been browsing this site for a few years and I had never read that.

Maybe I had but didn't think it applied to me.

This will be much easier. I live half an hour from Laos. Every 89 days, or so, I only have to cross the border and re-enter and I am good for another 90 days.

No immigration. No proof of income.

Nice.

Thanks again

Yep. All you need is a Visa to enter Laos. About 1,500 Baht. This can be obtained at the border.

If you drink beer don't forget to bring back some Beer Laos dark.
