Permission to Marry from embassy must be translated into Thai then both copies taken to Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Where is the MFA in Bangkok? Do you know of any good translation services here in Bangkok.? Thanks

You have to go to the MFA, consular section. They are located on Cheang Wattana road, very close to the new immigration building. The Immigration office is actually behind the consular department.

Thanks fellows.

The Canadian Embassy gave me permission to marry today for $1600 Bhat. I was there one hour as I was the 5th person in line for services. Filled out the form in 5 minutes, 5 minutes later they stamped it as notarized, since the employee is also a notary public. They gave me an information sheet with the address of four translation services, and the address at Chaeng Watthana. The translation is being done today $500 Bhat. The translation service also offered to take it to the Ministry and pick it up for me for a fee. There is no rush on my behalf.

For the information side the address for doing this is Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Legalization Division, 3rd floor, Dept. of Consular Affairs, 123 Chaeng Watthana Road Bangkok 10210. Phone 0 2575-1056 Fax 0 2575 1054 Hours 08:30 to 11:30 and 13:00 to 14:30. Website Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Thailand : : Naturalization & Legalization

Thanks again Mario and Lopburi for all your help all the time.

Might be worth getting them to do it depending on the fee. (i.e. It's a fair distance from the nearest skytrain / underground station, so if you don't have a car, you'll be taking a taxi there and back.)

Admittedly, I did the whole paperwork malarky in one day... - embassy - translation - MFA - amphur - and the translation service (near the embassy) was extremely knowledgable - as they obviously do this virtually every day of the year).

We had an off-duty policeman helping us as we needed to get it all done before the wedding ceremony the next day.

How to get to Chaeng Watthana easily and cheaply. You take BTS to Mochit. Cross over to Chatuchak Park side, get a van that goes to Laksi, Chaeng Watthana, Pak Kret, you get off at Chaeng Watthana $25 bhat. You take a motorcycle from the main street into the Government buildings $20 Bhat. When you leave Taxis are waiting there, take one back to the main street $35 bhat and get the van back to Mo chit. That is the most economical way if you already have a BTS pass, either way that is the cheapest way to get there. From Surasak BTS, in Sathorn total trip just less than one hour.
