A New Thai Commuter Airline Flies July

Featured Replies

Solar Air, a new Thai airline, is set to commence operations in late July, positioning itself as a “community airline serving secondary routes.”

The airline will operate out of Bangkok’s Don Muang Airport offering services to Mae Sot, Nan, Roi Et and Lampang using a 19-seat Dornier DO-228s, turbo prop aircraft leased from Germany.

Its something but time will tell.

It is a difficult time to launch a new airline, but I wish Solar all the Best

Wish someone would start up something Chiang Mai-Ubon Ratchathani....pain always having to go via BKK

I'd like an U-tapao-Singapore + U-tapao-Hong Kong daily or at least 2-3 times weekly myself.

:)

I believe there is a Chiang Mai - Ubon bus route, VIP, I should add too. Takes a while to get there though.

Good luck solar Air, the most difficult industry to operate in , wish U well , fare weather flying and blue skies.

Good luck to Solar Air!!

If you take a look at the destinations, it seems that they are replacing PB Air as they did cover them before stopping all services last year.

If they set out to exceed Nok's very ordinary standards of customer service, they should do OK, but it is a difficult industry to get started. The owners will need deep pockets.
