Baby In Uk

Featured Replies

Can someone if poss give us some info about a question i have regarding our new born daughter, we live in s.wales and we want to know if the baby is born in s.wales to a welsh father and thai mother what rights does the baby have and what nationality would the baby have. do we have to register the baby in thailand or can we do it if we eventualy go to live in thailand in approx 10yrs time ? all welcome advice taken thanks shorty .

If you are married the child will be a Brit because of you as a father are British. The child will also be Thai, because the mother is a Thai national. It has full rights under the law of both countries and both countries allow dual nationality.

First you register the baby in the normal way in the UK. After that is completed you go to the Thai embassy in London and register the birth there and at the same time you can apply for a Thai passport for the child. The child can only be registered at the Thai embassy, not in Thailand itself. The local embassy is the sole authorized authority to issue a Thai birth certificate when born abroad.

Check out the website of the embassy for more details and needed forms.
