I wonder if anyone can help. A friend of mine is looking to marry his thai gf of over 1 year and apply for a settlement visa for her to UK.

She has just dropped the bombshell that she went to Singapore last year (says to visit aunty) and she overstayed and had a deportation stamp in her passport.

When she returned to Thailand she changed her name and applied for a new passport , so the current passport has no stamps in it at all.

What is his best course of action, and would she be likely to get a visa if she told the embassy about her previous misdemeanor.

Thanks guys.

If she was applying as a general visitor to the UK and she had previously over stayed and been deported this would of course be of concern to the Eco.

She should declare the fact of her previous removal if the embassy find out she could be banned from entering the UK for up to 10 years.

The applicant is coming to settle in the UK and not stay as a general visitor reason to return should not be an issue however did she receive a criminal conviction from Singapore ?
