Marriage Visa?

Recommended Posts

i am planning on getting married sometime next year and was wondering if anyone by chance knew the current "rules" for this type of visa. i realize i need a certain amount of annual income from overseas to my bank account (at least around 1M baht, i read somewhere?), which isn't a problem. as for the entire process, is it better to get married in thailand first and then applying for the visa on the consulate or get the visa first and then getting married?

thanks :o

Do we have to read your other 658 posts to find out what country you are talking about? :o

Marriage to a Thai and live in Thailand?

Marriage to a Thai and get her visa to your (unknown) country?

If you are talking the marriage to Thai/live in Thailand and a visa for yourself you normally have to get married first. But in some countries you may meet non immigrant visa requirements in other ways so if that is the case you may as well take advantage of it. Then when down to 30 days remaining or less you apply for extension of stay on the basis of supporting your wife and showing 400k in a Thai bank account that came from overseas and providing information on the source of your income (work overseas which would include investment and such). If all you can obtain is a normal 60 day tourist visa it would not be a problem.

I to find it hard to figure out what your asking.

Do you want to live here?

Are you getting married in Thailand or elsewhere?

You need to get married first, you can't get a marriage visa until after your married.

If your getting marreid here then you can come in on whatever visa. get married ( the real thing not just go to the Temple) then go outside ( singapore/Malaysia) and obtain and NON-O 1 year multiply entry visa.

Not to put a damper on anything but why are you getting married? Just to get a visa?

50%/50% for the girl and the visa. i'm planning on staying here but too young for anything other than an investment or work permit-related visa. i have no plans for doing a 3M+ investment here right now and can neither get a work permit since i'm employed by my own overseas companies, so tourist, B without work permit and marriage visas are the only option.
