Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

As an Australian entering Thailand is it possible to get more than a 30 day tourist visa at the airport.

I want to travel around for a couple of months and don't really want to leave the country.

No. And you can not obtain a 30 day tourist visa at the airport either. What you get, if you actually get here, is a 30 day entry without visa. To qualify you have to have confirmed onward tickets; and airline my not fly you here without them. It would be much better to obtain a visa in Oz before you travel. That would allow 60 days stay and another 30 days if you extend it here for 1,900 baht. You should be able to do this at any Thai Consulate, by post, or travel agent.

I wont be coming from Australia so cannot do that.

So do it from where you are coming from (if that is not Top Secret). You can use any Thai Consulate anywhere in the world for a tourist visa.

So what is the purpose of that big 'Visa on arrival' office at Bangkok Airport before you hit immigration?

I live in Bahrain and work in Saudi.

I will try the thai embassy in Bahrain.

Is it something they do on the spot or does it take time?

The reason i asked the question originally is that i heard that you get a couple of months visa at the visa section at the airport but if you say this is not possible i will not take the risk.

Normally a tourist visa is in one morning and out next afternoon but it depends on the Consulate and some can do immediately if required.
