I thought I would mention that yesterday (July 1, 2010) I had pages added to my passport and it was still free so I guess the price changes have not taken effect yet. :-)

They said I could wait 1 hour to get it but I returned in the afternoon to pick mine up.

Before I made the appointment, I checked US Consulate website for the fee change but must have missed the July 13th notice.

I actually didn't need the extra pages for several years but when someone recently told me that the fees hadn't gone up yet, I went down to get me the freebie. Considering you only get 24 pages for $82, you might be better off kicking in $28 more and get a whole new passport.
