Renewing 5Yr Driving Licence

Featured Replies

My licence is due for renewal soon & I have been told by a friend that I have to apply 60days before the current one expires. Has anyone renewed recently and found this is correct?

Thanks in advance.

My driving licenses expires today and I renew it yesterday without any problems at the Land Transport Department on the Hang-Dong road.

Cost for both car and motorbike on Smart Card 960 BAht.

You can apply up to 90 days before expiration and up to the date of expiration.

This is accurate info, I just did mine during the last month of validity. Be sure that your certificate of residence from Thai immigration is not more than 30 days old and it needs to be the original and not a copy. Take your passport with current Non-Im visa, copies of your passport photo page, visa page, last entry stamp, and departure card. You have to go through a one hour plus program that includes color blindness test, brake pedal reaction time, and a video of laws and driving issues, but no test. Show up before 9am or 1pm for the program, report at the information desk on the 2nd floor, and allow at least two hours to complete everything. No photos needed now as they take it at the last stage of procedure and issue your license on the spot . Painless. don
