My wife has been in the UK for 11 months now, I had a few days before I started my new job so I took the time to take her to see the sites of London. While we were In London doing the rounds looking at Tower bridge, The Tower of London ext , the usual sites . We came across many Thai people on holiday . None of them spoke to my wife not one, They just looked her up and down or just did not acknowledge her at all. When we got back home my wife spoke to some of her Thai friends about this and most said the same,They were ignored or just blanked. My question is, Do these big money Thai people think that they are above the Thais that are with a westerner. You would think that they would be Happy to see some of there fellow county men/woman, or is it the same thing on Holiday as in Thailand We have big money attitude, you are just an ex bargirl/peasant or serf attitude, My wife is none of these, and I thought that it was just westerners who blanked there own country men in a foreign country.

You have already answered your own question.

My wifes answer, I wouldnt talk to them in Thailand why should I talk to them in farangland.

My answer, I dont want every farang on holiday in Thailand to try and strike up a conversation with me, why should the Thais be any different.

Agreed, me thinks the OP is reading too much into this, Mrs Soutpeel has travelled extensively with me in many countries where we have come across Thai tourists, some have talked to her first, some she has talked to first, on other occasions completely ignored each other...

They are a vast number of farangs who turn up in Thailand, who I wouldnt p*ss on them if they were on fire, let alone talk to....Why should Thai's be any different ?

i was recently cornered in an airport customs customs queue by a fellow canadian who changed lines upon spotting my passport from afar.

I was then captive to a litany of his recent travel experiences depite the fact he had to tap me on the shoulder to take out my earbuds.

I wish he had blanked me, i found his brotherly bonhomie quite unbearable.
