I have a friend who is about to apply for his first retirement extension from his tourist visa. He has all the required documents except a lease agreement. Is CM immigration requiring some sort of proof of residency for retirement extensions? Remember, this is his first extension.

Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

They will likely require something as what office you can use is determined by where you live. I suspect other proof might be accepted however. Also there will have to be a change to non immigrant visa entry from a tourist visa so he should be prepared for that.

I extended my O-A visa for the first time a couple of weeks ago in Chiang Mai (I'd not been in the office before). They only asked me for proof of finances. Tourist visa might be a different issue though.

He's on the last of one of those 3 entry tourist visas. I'll tell him to try to get his landlord to create a lease or write a note that he's been renting from them for a while. Thanks for the info guys.
