Hi,

My filipino gf was stopped at Clarke last year, on the way to visit me in Thailand. I was told by a filipino to use Clark instead of Manila. ( mistake ! )

She had return tickets and a copy of my passport etc.

Immigration just said NO.

My question is where do I get a letter of invitation ? I want an offical document this time, do I visit Thai or Phili embassy ? How much does it cost and what do I need ? ( i.e. do i need copy of her passport or anything...pics of her for the form etc etc ? ).

Also due to the fact that she was stopped last time...will this affect her chances this time ? N.B. I WILL BE GOING TO COLLECT HER THIS TIME, and travelling from Manila.

thanks for any correct info...

Don't worry about it if you are going to get her. I had same problem I was 65 she 19 friends advised first time go get her I did. Immigration asked her why she was coming into Thailand, she replied to visit my boyfriend. Next question, how old is he? Reply 65. Next question why would a beautiful 19 year old Filipina want to have 65 year old boyfriend? Answer looking him straight in the eye "because I love him". End of questions, stamped approved. After 1 year she became my wife.

I dont understand the OPs post. I think he is saying that Philippine immigration stopped her leaving the PI, not Thai immigration not leaving her in.

I used to have a Filipina gf and i would email her a letter saying that i wanted her to come and stay with me at my address(but could be hotel) and id state the dates she was staying. Of course she needed a return ticket(there are ways around this and if u need to know pm me) . She traveled numerous times with no probs.

That said i do believe i read somewhere that all people entering Thailand need to show money to immigration if asked. Maybe someone else knows how much. My ex gf used to carry my atm card with a few hundred pounds in it and she never had any problems.

The problem is leaving the Philippines as Immigration is tasked with preventing illegal activities (young girls to join brothels in other countries) and for those with no travel record and young there can be close questioning and refusal to allow exit. Add the normal corruption factors and it can become a real process for those on there own.

There is no reason for Thailand to say no, by ASEAN treaty, all members (including Philippines and Thailand) of ASEAN can travel freely and are given a 30 day tourist visa on arrival with a passport issues by an ASEAN country. Must have been Philippines that said no.............

The entry would be visa exempt if allowed and not all countries is it allowed and never freely (you must always pass immigration screening). Currently Cambodia does not enjoy such access to Thailand and must obtain visas prior to travel from my understanding.
