My tirak has handed in her supporting documentation and had her fingerprints + picture taken.

She was told her to expect a decision in 10 days(5+5 working days)/ 2 weeks.

The website seems to confirm this:

"Most visa applications are processed within 15 working days from the date you submitted your visa application and biometrics at the visa application centre."

but checking the processing times(below) I would expect her to only wait 3 to 4 days. She's trying to decide if she should fly back to Phuket or wait.

Has anyone recieved their visa in under 5 days? What are people's experience. If it's only 2, 3 or 4 days for her visa decision then she should wait.

Thanks for any advice.

It would help you obtain an answer if you said which country she has applied to.

What you have posted suggests the UK, especially the link to the UK processing times; is this correct?

Remember, those processing times are for applications completed in May and it is now July, there is no guarantee that her processing time will be the same.

Other than that, I can't advise you as the last visit visa application I was involved with personally was submitted in December 2008 and although there is a current topic about people's experiences, this is for settlement visas not visits, and they take longer anyway.

Just because the website says 3 or 4 days that doesnt include weekends and i do believe that the day you submit doesnt count. My wife opted for the text option and her visa said that it was decided upon a thursday(filed on the monday b4), but she didnt get the text until the following monday and received the passport back on the tuesday by courier.. There is definitely a discrepancy between the advertised days and the actual time taken to get the passport back. In my wifes case the notice stated it had been decided on within 4 days but it was actually 8 days until she got her passport back.

Most visit applications do seem to be issued within their target of 15 working days; but as I said before one cannot rely on May's figures being reproduced in July!

Opting for courier delivery is obviously going to add time to the process, as the VAC cannot hand the package over the the courier until it's received back from the embassy.

Having said that, if one does not live close to Bangkok and doesn't wish to wait there for an indeterminable period, using the courier service is probably the best option.
