hi everybody, I have a one way ticket from rome to bkk on 20th of july... they say I need an extension of the trip to pass the check-in at the airport.

does anybody know if a train ticket to malaysia would be enough? where can I have this ticket online? do I need a ticket out of the country or is it okay if I buy from bkk to koh samui?

alegreg, you need a visa, which you get from a Thai consulate. Otherwise, the airline may refuse to check you in for your flight. Alternatively, without a visa, you need a ticket for a flight out of Thailand within 30 days from your arrival in Thailand, because without a visa you will receive permission to stay for only 30 days. For example, arrival in Thailand 21 JUL 2010, permission to stay until 19 AUG 2010.

If you intend to stay for more than 30 days get a Tourist Visa. They are free of charge at the moment.

I know guys but I cannot get a visa now in the town where i live... my question is: do I need a flight ticket or ANY ticket out of thailand? I wish to go by train that is cheaper but I dont know where I can do it online.

The airline will insist on proof of a ticket out of the country, any ticket will do. You can reserve a ticket online and probably also pay for it. Some travel agents offer to buy the ticket for you and the State Railway itself allows you to reserve a ticket online. But it is not sure if it will considered enough and if you will get the ticket before you arrive in thailand.

Most consulates will allow applying by mail for a visa.
