Hello, all,

Please share the information below with anyone you know who might be able to help.

SCAD (Soi Cat and Dog Rescue) is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in Bangkok. They do a wonderful job, but as you will read below, they need to relocate out of the residential area where their kennel and clinic are now located.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Thank you very much for your contribution to our Appeal during May's political crisis in Bangkok. The US$40,000 target was reached – that's an extraordinary vote of support for SCAD.

The funds were put to immediate use and allowed us to sterilize and vaccinate 82 dogs and 78 cats, plus administer 1,633 individual treatments in the month of June. Your donation made this possible.

Amongst other things, we purchased a new water pump to keep flood waters at bay, and also gave our battered and bruised vehicles an overhaul. Exposure to constant heat and humidity really takes a toll on all our equipment.

Things appeared to be looking up for the immediate future, with shelves stocked with supplies, vets busy at work in the surgery and funds in the bank to keep regular programs rolling along for the coming months.

When I wrote to you in June, I was relieved to think that the major changes we made to our daily operations resulted in a quieter life for our neighbors. Not so…..

Despite our best efforts, complaints about noise have persisted. SCAD's devoted staff didn't want to tell me this news as they are afraid they will lose their jobs. I am concerned that harm may come to the staff, volunteers or the animals; despite the fact we have really done everything possible to help reduce noise. I suspect our landlord may also be under considerable pressure from neighbors about the noise problems and so is unresponsive about our lease which is due to expire in September.

It's time for SCAD to move right now. Will you help me find us a new home urgently?

Because of the tight timeframes and so we can focus all our energy on finding a new home, effective immediately all normal operations are on hold. This means no sterilizations, vaccinations, treatments, visiting school groups, dog training, Straytails or Scoffees. Of course, we will continue adoptions and the day-to-day care of the animals currently with us.

Please help me find a suitable place for SCAD to live. Preferred location is to the north or east of Greater Bangkok.

* Option A will allow us keep things ticking over, but it will take time, money and effort to return to normal operations.

* Option B will see us get back to normal operations relatively quickly.

* Option C means all our dreams have come true and we are back on track pronto.

Option A

"Bare Bones" - cheap rent with option to buy

Option B

"Halfway House" - donated lease hold

Option C

"Purrfect Place" - donated free hold

I know that you have contacts, colleagues, friends and ideas on how to help us move. Please help me and call me on 08 4717 8511 or e-mail me at [email protected]

I need your help to get this project completed quickly, so we can get back to the vital business of caring for Bangkok's street animals. I really need your support to make this happen.

Warm regards

Wendy
