Vientiane - required to provide an airline ticket to a third country

I will be going up to Ventiene next week to get my first 60 day tourist Visa,my question is will I be required to provide an airline ticket to a third country. I beleive that this used to be the case but I am ussure whether this is still enforced.

Vientiane will not ask for proof of onward travel.

And neither will Thai immigration, especially when holding a tourist visa in which case it never is a requirement to hold onwards travel documents.
