Epoxy Resin In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Does anyone know a place to get clear epoxy resin in small quantities in Chiang Mai. I will use it to fill bottle caps to make earrings. It is usually used in crafts or for the household. It comes as two clear gels or liquids and then when you mix them together, they harden up. I checked at Home Pro but they only have white, not clear. Chiang Mai plastics doesn't have it and various art stores don't have it. Any ideas?

Any of the stores like bigc etc have it.

do you mean crystal clear or kinda clear with a little cloudiness?

Number 300 epoxy is crystal clear, number 205 is cloudy clear, with a yellow tint. Don't use polyester resins they have wax float to the top, the polyester resins will come with a small bottle of MEKP which is used as an oxidizer and mixed at a 100:1 ratio, you can tell if its polyester resin because the oxidizer will come in a significantly smaller sized bottle.

If your using it as an adhesive and not a filler, consider using thixotropic cyanoacrylate with cps of around 2000 for the same consistency as epoxy, used alongside with an accelerator it will dry instantly depending on thickness, but 7 times as expensive, for detailed work though you cant beat it and will end up using less in the long run do to mixing residue losses with epoxies.

Standard sizes of number 300 epoxy is 300-400 baht. Parts A and B should both be clear.

Back to epoxies - a jewelry making supply house will have the epoxy you are looking for, be sure to get acetone also to soak your brushes before they harden.

Try the picture framing shops opposite the British council/ British consulate, they have it for sure.

Also try the search function in the Chiang Mai forum.

Pond Life is spot on but it's quite dear.

Depending on your requirements, polyester resin (makes fibreglass) is also available there and is a great deal cheaper.

I recently used it for resetting small teak parquet tiles by injecting into syringe-nozzle sized holes (large size from vet) and it worked very well.

All of the Amorn electrical shops stock a range of different epoxy resin glues, both clear and coloured, with fillers and without. By far the best selection I have seen anywhere.

Tesco also have a few types. Bought epoxy resin steel other day.
