July 26, 201015 yr Let's say that you have a very important business partner coming for 1-2 days to Bangkok. What would you do to make him know you, Bangkok and Thailand? What hotel and what activities at the hotel, what places to see and what places to eat. The guest would be Asian and used to 5-star quality. Give it your best!
July 26, 201015 yr Take him to Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza for a few drinks, that should break the ice, I'm sure he'll be more than happy to ease the tension this way, hehe...

Been there done that - and they are still as ugly as last time. 5 star was the key word for this guy. Benjarong Thai food and a spa treatment in Dusit Thani is so far the idea. Other ideas are linked to Shangri-la and Oriental. How about some Boutique hotel experiences out there?
July 26, 201015 yr Author Would this in any way be linked to the build up of condo's in Africa? Oh, I get it. Yes, it may be linked to that. I guess I should take hime to Hippo-Hotel in Bangkok... I fail to see the relevance of the questions? Of course it's fun knowing the longterm ideas, but perhaps we could take a step backwards and just ask ourselves: how could we have a good time in bangkok - 5 star level and no dirty ideas.
July 26, 201015 yr Take him to Sirocco Restaurant at State Tower? Nice setting, expensive food and wine, beautiful view of the city. Certainly going to be memorable, especially if he's new to the city. Maybe during the day arrange for a massage session at somewhere like the Seasons Spa at the Conrad Hotel.

Certainly going to be memorable, especially if he's new to the city. Maybe during the day arrange for a massage session at somewhere like the Seasons Spa at the Conrad Hotel. This is a great opinion. Let's say it was for lunch and then the Spa treatment. Perfect! How about a Thai dinner: One I am considering is Benjarong at Dusit Thani - anyone cooler, more exclusive.. Don't forget we are asians, but not necessarily thai.

July 26, 201015 yr A very trendy boutique hotel is the Vie Hotel near the Ratchatavee BTS station. But if your visitor wants 5 star luxury and a view, then the Oriental would be the place.

July 27, 201015 yr Divert the plane to Singapore, the red shirts are back on the streets again. Really? Whereabouts are they gathering?
July 28, 201015 yr Divert the plane to Singapore, the red shirts are back on the streets again. Really? Whereabouts are they gathering? There was a group of about 200 congregating in Lumphini Park last Sunday afternoon, near the clock tower. Lots of police around, but didn't see them trying to break up the illegal? gathering.

Thx all. I am overwhelmed of all the kind advice. We should be able to have an interesting time flying in from HK. Great stuff and I may just throw in a morning jog at Sanam luang or Lumpini (No muay thai for him!). Great advice from you all.
