Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of anywhere selling snake blood in Phuket or around the region? If not, what about ya dong with creatures inside the bottle?

For research :)

Thanks

you can find snake blood inside most snakes. What are you reasearch are you doing?

Sorry, didn't realise I needed to explain: I want the blood without having to kill, cut or handle the snake. And it is research for an article I am writing.

Now we cleared that up, can you help?

Research on the erectile dysfunction?? Hair loss??

See Wikipedia here

Yes, research on all of that. Thanks for the link but I would like to source the blood, as my post reads.

Before I reveal how to get it, please tell us why you need it?

I did explain above - I am writing an article about it for a local newspaper. I don't live in Phuket and came on here to ask if anyone can point me in the right direction. I would really appreciate any info. I have trawled the internet and there is little info on where to get it. Thanks in advance, I will buy you a pint if you can help me!

Well hasn't that been done to death? Here's a little bit of information for you.. and your boss 'PG' perhaps?

'Snake's blood' is no more effective than any other animal's blood in curing that which ails you, can't get it up? Tiger bones, Rhino horn not better than Viagra (and V cheaper, I'm told). Rheumatism et al same same.

I thought I would get some info from posting here, but the only people replying are those who have too much time on their hands. Read the post -- it's a question of where I can find snake blood. I wasn't asking if if you thought it would make an interesting article nor if it's effective at curing ailments that I may or may not have!

I wish I had more spare time, but I definitely don't envy you guys!!

If you got some spare time left, you might - careful: it is a wild guess - be lucky at Phuket Zoo. I don't know any snake farm around here, but the Zoo might help with a sample.

I've never seen it in Phuket. I know locals that will eat cobras, if they're big enough. But I've never seen them collecting the blood. If I remember, I'll ask my neighbor tomorrow. He would know...

Snake blood is not stored. It is drunk fresh, so, a snake will have to die for your "research".

There are no snake restaurants in Phuket, you'll have to go to Bangkok.

There is a old chinese pharmacy in Phuket town, it claims to be the oldest pharmacy in Phuket. They do have all kind of weird stuff, quite an interesting place actually, and if I remember correctly they had some pills containing snake blood. Anyway the staff there might be able to help you. There is one guy that speaks English, the rest only in Thai.

Shop is located in Thanon Deebuk in Phuket town, it's one of the one-way roads in the old chinese center, end of that road on your left hand side.

Probably the easiest and quickest route would be to get a couple of the local likey-lads to go snake hunting for you.

My dog hunted this one that is quite poisonous this morning. My Thai neighbor killed it before I could get dressed and out there. He said it's no good it can kill people or your dog. This isn't my photo, I was just looking up the type of snake and found this photo. Second one of this type I've seen. But I've seen lots of cobras around here too.

Red Necked Keel-Back snake.

Very common in Phuket.

Non-aggressive that is mildly poisoness (not a single recorded case of a human death) with grooved, rear fangs.
