Foreign capital begins flowing back into Thailand, says BoT

BANGKOK: -- Bank of Thailand (BoT) Assistant Governor Suchada Kirakul on Tuesday revealed foreign capital had begun flowing back into Thailand in the past five or six days.

She said foreign capital had flowed out of the Stock Exchange of Thailand since 2008, which saw the global economy experience a crisis.

However, the economic situation had now improved with lower risks, causing foreign capital to return into both the stock market and the secondary market

On the baht movement, she said, the local currency is not stronger than other regional currencies. More investors speculated on currencies because the US economic figures released on Monday are sound.

The US dollar had weakened against other currencies including the Thai baht. Still, net foreign investment remained negative.

The baht moved in a narrow range of 32.18-32.30 to the US dollar in Tuesday’s morning trading session. It strengthened slightly to stay at 32.16-32.18 to the dollar at the market close. (MCOT online news)

Yes, foreign capital had begun flowing back into Thailand in the past five or six days. (...5 or 6??)

Foreign capital increasing, Thai economy growing, tourists numbers up - sure seems that the Gov is going out of its way to paint a rosy picture.
