Learn Thai With Jumbo - Avoid!

The purpose of this topic is to warn the readers of this forum to not to be in any contact with this teacher: http://classifieds.t...-fun-52380.html

My wife and her sister has been living in Thailand for eight years and they can speak thai as well as the natives. In spring 2010 they decided to take private lessonse from Jumbo, which later proved to be a really big dissappontment. The girls wanted to take the advanced test in thai-language so they could have certificates to proove that they are qualified when working as an interpreter. The lessons went pretty well, only a few times he failed to show up, but it was that unstable situation in Bangkok and he might been stuck in the chaotic traffic.

Eventually my wife and her sister took the test and they passed (according to Jumbo). Week before our flight back to our homecountry Jumbo was supposed to bring those certificates to us in person, but he failed to show up. He didn't even bother to call us. My wife phoned him and they agreed to meet in the Mall near us and the date was set on day befor our departure. Again he failed to show up and my wife stood there waiting for him for an hour and Jumbo diidn't call to explain his actions this time either.

Now we have been in our homecountry for two months and Jumbo hasn't still sent those certificates as promised. He just seems to give empty promises he can't keep. I personally know that mailing an envelope is very easy in Thailand. He has sent email where he tells that those certificates are in an envelope waiting to be posted and he has not done so because he teaches almost around the clock. So 1 minute stop at the Post Office is too much for him? He is that busy?

My wife and her sister paid the course and the certificates in advance because they trusted him. But deal is a deal and it would have been nice if Jumbo would have delivered. We came to think that maybe he hasn't those certificates at all or he is just an amateur and greedy teacher.

I have our conversations with Jumbo on my email and I didn't make this up. This is just an unfortunate and sad example of those thais who are just greedy. We know that there are lots of wonderful and friendly thais out there, so it is alway s dissappointing to see someone giving thais a bad reputation.

So consider for yourself that do you want to support Jumbo. There are lots of other qualified thai-language teachers to be found.

EDIT: This is his website: http://learnthaiwithjumbo.weebly.com/jumbos-profile.html

Might be time to retain a lawyer who can extract those certificate and put them in the mail for you.
