Can I Take My Baby To Laos

Featured Replies

hi,

i have come away and i want to take my baby to laos and i'm just wondering if baby will need a passport or will birth certificate be ok ?

we live in chiang mai and are currently in udon thani,

do we stand a chance of taking baby to laos or is a passport etc needed ?

baby is 3 months old half thai/english.

would we be able to get a thai passport in udon thani ? can it be done in 1 day etc ?

thank you,

chris

I'm not sure, but I think a passport will be needed. Normally it takes 3 days to get one, but they might have an express service.

procedure to obtain passport:

http://www.mfa.go.th/web/473.php?id=3167

Passport offices: http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2633.php

chose department of consulair affairs and check for the passport offices. it lists one in Udon Thani.

The birth certificate could be for another child (your child) does not prove that the child you are taking is yours. It could be that you are smuggling someone else's child out of the country. Then you will return without child back to your own child who was being looked after all the time in Udon.

Of course I am sure that is not the case but it is possible and so therefore you will certainly need a passport or at the very least a thai id card
