coolhandjoe
Watched Chelsea beat Wigan 6-0 yesterday on T.V, All around the stadium being advertised on the billoards in thai Language was some gambling company wich shall rename nameless. My wife was shocked as gambling in Thailand is against the law. This makes Thailand look hypocritical or maybe the company is targeting rich expat Thai's. What do you think? bifftastic
I saw that too and it did make me do a 'double take'. I think they know large numbers of people in Thailand gamble on the premier league and they're targeting them directly.
apetley
It does seem strange that something like gambling, which is illegal in Thailand, can be advertised on TV but drinking and smoking, both legal are pixellated to hel_l when appearing on TV! As an aside I did a visa run to Chong Chom and there were hundreds of Thais lined up to and from the casinos there. Never seen it so busy.
whybother
It is illegal to gamble in Thailand ... that's why they were advertising in England - knowing millions of Thais would be watching. Ofcourse, there is no way they can do the pixelating on a live match (very difficult anyway, especially with no notice), so they advertisers knew they would get a good market. Maybe in the future, the game will be delayed, just so they can do the pixelating.
