July 12, 200521 yr maybe naive question, sorry, but if i have a UBC satellite dish but no phone line, can i get internet access through the satellite dish? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think you cant you need a phone line to send the request of what you want to download to receive them through the satellite. Check http://www.csloxinfo.com/broadband/index_en.asp for more details.
July 12, 200521 yr Correct, the IPTV system uses a small ubc sized dish for downloading and a telephone line for uploading! You also have the IPSTAR system which does not use a phoneline, but it has a bigger dish of about 1.2 meter diameter. Also is expensive at 3210 Baht/month, and capped at maximium 750 mb data traffic per month
July 12, 200521 yr Author awww, shucks. it seems strange to me that i can order satellite service but can't get a standard phone line here.
July 12, 200521 yr Author by the way monty did you have troubles getting IPStar installed (assuming you have it)? I can not get any response from Lox Info, and I have called, emailed and faxed them.
July 12, 200521 yr No problems getting it installed, but I never dealt with Loxinfo directly... They have local dealers around the country who handle the installation! My dealer had it up and running within a week. Threw it out just recently because TT&T enabled ADSL on my phoneline http://www.csloxinfo.com/wheretobuy/index_en.asp
