Hey ya,

I am staying in Hua Hin. I am in a studio apartment and am just wondering how much utilities are. I am out most of the day either studying or hanging out with friends from uni and sometimes wont be home till early morning. I usually only watch TV and run AC during the night and sometimes during the day if I am home. I am staying at a fairly new building. Water consumption is just for one or two showers a day and washing dishes. So, how much do you think utilities would run me?

Second, whats a good way to rent a car? Me and friends were thinking about renting one to save on all the taxis and tuk-tuks.

I am guessing by your post that utilities aren't included. I'm not in Hua Hin, but I think the electric rate is probably about the same as it is all provided by PEA, The Provincial Electric Authority. I live in a 2 bedroom house and I get the bill directly. Some landlords are know to get the bill and charge you more than the actual billing. My bill used to be about 700 Baht a month, but then I got a washing machine, and an air conditioner (just in one bedroom) and a second refrigerator, a second TV and internet. This month it was 1170, without running the air con much. The most it has ever been was 1700, running the air con a lot. I don't pay for water, other than the electricity to run my pump, but I think it's somewhere around 5 Baht a cubic meter. I have cable TV: 350, internet: 500 and true visions platinum: 2,155. Just thought I'd try to give you some idea at least... Good luck and enjoy.

Sorry, but how does one answer this? Bottom line the A/C is the one that will change your electric bill: A/C at night and, Sometimes in the day!!! You might as well have asked the qestion.....................How long is a piece of string!

Car renting, Go and do some homework, visit some car rental places....Maybe, get some prices....Maybe.....What do you think? Good luck, I think you'll need it.

The cost of electricity for AC depends on the age and efficiency of the machines...........
