My situation now;

I have French BF who has been currently in Germany, we been thinking where to live our lives together. Seem possible that we will live in France or Spain..or can be back and forth, I still have work for taking care here in Thailand..

We plan having holiday in France in this coming October, also to visit his mother in Normandie. I will go meeting him in Germany on my own (I mean by tourist visa applied on my own status), and we will drive to France. My BF has said about getting our marriage registration during this trip also.

Oh..!! big deal really... Errr....I will have to change from Miss to Mrs...????? (Oiii... ..!!!)

I am wondering now... not because I don't love him. I DO!!! Very much, indeed. But I don't see the legal stuff is essential, as long as we have us.

My questions for now;-

1. Is it necessary to have legal bonding as this? Is it neccessary if I will be back and forth Thailand and EU Countries? Is it "a must" if I will go living my life there?

2. Will I have to lose my Thai Citizen? If so, what will effect me by legal for my Thai's right?

3. As talking to a Thai lady in Germany last year, I was advised for learning Deutsche, because I will have to be interviewed in Deutsche by government officer. How about French laws? Do I need to learn French language also?

4. Is there any other way for me to not getting register and I can be frequently travel within EU Countries, and or have longer stay in there (six months, one year..for instance)?

5. What do I need to prepare ..I mean my Thai legal papers... to be ready to go getting registration's process in France?

Oiiii... I dislike doing paper-works really:( ... hectic!! :(

Thanks in advance for the replies may come.

You don't lose Thai citizenship by marrying a foreigner.

I don't know much about the European laws because I am a US citizen married to a Thai, getting married can make it easier for extended stays in Europe. The question I have for you is where do you plan on living most of the time in any given year? If you plan on moving to Europe then getting married will make visa and travel less of a problem.

Sorry, just getting back here... Saturday is also my working day.

To answer Donx's question.. I don't have plan yet for living life more in which country..but for sure, I must have to go there and been back here several times..at least I guess.

I will just need some better way than being registered. Well, this kinda very big deal and effect a lot, especially my family. They feel displeased for our relationship since the first.. Pfff..

Thank you, khun Donx.. :D

Getting married will make it easier for you to live there or for him to live here.

But, if you have assets of your own and have no difficulty getting visas to Europe and do not plan on working there or spending lots of time there, then no, you don't need the marriage license. But, and here is the big but, that lifestyle wont' go on forever and if you stay together then you will find it easier being married.

And midori, never mind what your family thinks, you have to do what feels right and best for you, you are the only one living your life.

You're 40 years old - old enough to decide if its "necessary" for yourself, without advice from your family or those here. It is a "big deal", so if you don't see it as "essential" then it probably isn't.
