I would like to spend the weekend at the beach chilling out on a beautiful beach and snorkeling over coral reefs. Been to koh samed a few time, particularly enjoy Ao Cho and candlelight beach with the coral reefs. Can anyone recommend another beach with quality sand, coral and lack of crowds?

I am also considering koh larn, never been here. I also understand there are other islands near by. How does Koh Larn or any other island compare with Samed?

It does look like Koh Samed will be my destination unless I receive feedback of Larn being better. I plan to leave Bangkok around 4pm by minivan on Friday afternoon, does this mean I will miss the last ferry and need to take the speedboat? Are there options of sharing a speedboat with other people and share the price or do the speedboat operators adopt a tuk tuk mentality and price fix per person etc?

Thanks for your input.

hi

Yes, the last ferry to Koh Samed leaves Ban Phe At 16.00. you will have to get a speedboat over, at that time of the evening boats can be negotiable varies between 1200- 2000 Baht as most tourists will be installed by this time on the island .

white shark speed boats depart from Tarua Phe pier till 18.30 - 19.00, if you phone them beforehand they will wait for you Tel - 038 - 653-181

the best place for snorkling on samed is on the rugged west coast by Ao Kiew Nanai, you could hire a motorbike and go there yourself rather than get on the boat trip over there,

take a look at a great website for samed, lists lots to do and good photos - http://kohsamed.net

Have a great trip
