A top Russian official has confirmed that US President Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin are set to meet in "the coming days".

According to Yury Ushakov, preparations are already underway, aiming for a rendezvous as early as next week. The exact location remains a mystery, with details promised "later".

Trump has hinted strongly at the likelihood of this high-stakes meeting, expressing optimism that it could happen "very soon" to discuss possible resolutions to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

As anticipation builds, Moscow has yet to address a US proposal for three-way talks involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

While tensions remain high, this potential dialogue between Trump and Putin marks a possible step towards peace.

I'm certain that Trump would rather be meeting with the Pope.  With the Pope he would only have to kiss his ring.

TACO Trump already conceded to Putin even before the talk with his statement that the talk conclusion is "up to Putin 'and Putin doesn't need to meet up with Zelenskyy. His foreign policies are abject failures.

Good news, at least Trump is trying to stop the war, let us hope he succeeds.

Just like he promised to stop the war even before he was elected, and he promised that he would stop the war on the first day after he became president, and countless times since.

Hr hasn't succeeded yet, and I doubt that he ever will succeed.

Or do what's best for Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor here. As it stands, they gain from an act of aggression.

The latest "leaked" terms are

1. lifting of sanctions

2. gradual normalisation of trade

3. freezing current status of the occupied Ukrainian lands for 99 years,

4. no assurance against Ukrainian NATO membership

5. no assurance against a halt in US supply of military equipment to Ukraine.

What will happen is that 2 of the points will be agreed upon, some watering down of 1 of the points, and outright rejection of 2 of the point. No minutes will be kept, no independant observers of the talks allowed. The talks will conclude more quickly than expected, allowing for some discussion on leisure developments in the Russian capital. Russia only wants the US involved in talks because it is afraid if Europe is in the room, they will lie, and Vlad can be utterly trusted in everything; his word is his bond, as Arthur used to say.

This will be presented to Ukraine as the best deal they are going to get, they they are going to have to give up more sovereignty, and its all their fault if they hesitate.

A Putin game waste of time.  Trump unfortunately will look foolish.

Just another Putin attempt to make Trump look like a failure". Which he has done on many occasions, but poor old dumb Donny isn't smart enough to know that he has, and is being played!!

So trump will meet with Putin, but Zelensky is not invited to the meeting?????

Something very odd/strange about that.......perhaps trump is afraid that he will be shown up for what he really is and Zelensky will witness it?

Whatever the reason Zelensky needs to be included.

The reason Zelensky is not included is that this is a trade deal between Russia and the US, with which Zelensky would never agree.

Russia will be allowed to keep certain parts of Ukraine, some of which Ukraine currently still controls, and in return the US will get rare earths that are mined there.

After the deal is made public, Zelensky and the EU will reject it for obvious reasons, and they will be painted as the war monger

So basically......stuff you Ukraine, and the USA and Russia will benefit. What a crock and seems like no negotiating going, just seeing how Russia and the USA can help themselves to what they want.

I would love to see other NATO countries get in behind Ukraine to repel the two greedy bar-stewards.

I thought this was a well known "secret" for several months already.

I recall there have been news articles, which have been posted on this forum as well, that the first agreement Trump tried to make with Putin was exactly about the rare earths

Do you see any difference in strategy in Trump’s meeting with Putin to end the war? I see nothing new with same old territorial concessions to Russia. Why are countries directly involved in the Ukraine war not in this meeting. Trump is rewarding and legitimizing a war criminal with invite to USA.

Traitor Trump sucking up to the boss. It is not about Ukraine, it is about instructions and Russian extortion.

You mean the war he vowed to stop in his election campaign when he became president, that war?

Let's face it no amount of meetings, telephone calls and envoys to Putin have had any results whatsoever and that could mean that Putin has a hold over Trump (mentioned before, naughty pics?) Or that trumps negotiating skills are zilch and Putin can do whatever he wants and stick his middle finger up at Trump, which he has done on many occasions.

As I mentioned before the thought of an aggressor reaching an agreement with the US, without the involvement of Ukraine, is a travesty and Zelensky is doing all he can to stop that happening, but the aggressor has its eyes on Ukraine territory and the so-called "mediator" (USA) has its eyes on rare earths, both to the betterment of themselves and nothing to the betterment of Ukraine – – disgusting.

And here is the latest news – –

European leaders have urged more “pressure” on Russia, after the announcement of a Trump-Putin summit to end the war in Ukraine raised concern that an agreement would require Kyiv to cede swathes of territory.
Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will meet in the US state of Alaska on Friday (local time) to try to resolve the three-year conflict, despite warnings from Ukraine and Europe that Kyiv must be part of negotiations.
European leaders issued a joint statement saying that “only an approach that combines active diplomacy, support to Ukraine and pressure on the Russian Federation to end their illegal war can succeed”.

The Trump "crackdown" on Putin and Russia now appears to have been a ruse to justify this giveaway on the part of Trump. For peace in our time, Trump seems ready to force Ukraine to part with the Sudetenland, er, uh, I mean Donetsk.

European allies back Ukraine’s borders after Donald Trump floats land swap with Russia

Zelenskyy shores up international support ahead of meeting between US president and Vladimir Putin next week

European leaders declared that Ukraine’s border “must not be changed by force” after Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed for allies to oppose a peace deal floated by Donald Trump that could involve “some swapping of territory”. In a joint statement, leaders from the European Commission, France, Italy, the UK, Poland and Finland said “the current line of contact should be the starting point of negotiations”.

I am not arguing, but my point is the war has been ongoing almost 3 and a half years, up to 1 million deaths and casualties reported and no end in sight. No argument that Putin is the aggressor and started the war, but currently Trump and the US has the best chance to broker a deal, to stop the bloodshed. I realize Trump may potentially favor Russia with territorial gains and this will be resisted by Ukraine and Europe.

If nothing is done the war will continue, people dying, not forgetting how much its all costing.
