Importing Goods Into Thailand

Featured Replies

I am thinking of importing recording music into Thailand from the US. What kind of duties, taxes etc would I be looking at?

Thanks kids!

James

Lazy to look at the mo but am pretty sure that there is a list of taxes for various goods imported into Thailand on the thai customs website

In reality however it is down to pot luck and how greedy the customs officer who inspects it on the day feels

I recently had a pair of nike shoes sent from the USA with a value of $25 marked on the customs slip and got hammered for 500 baht inport tax, not a lot granted but as a % pretty high

Personally i wouldn't import anything of high value here, the chances of you paying more in import tax than what the item is worth is pretty high.

Depending on Material.

If for Re-sale or Retail Sale you can expect approx 30% Taxes

If for Personal Use you can expect 11 to 17%

If it is Pirated Music aand or Video DVDs you can expect a 100,000 Bhat Fine and expulsion

If you know a Muckity Muck in Goverment you can pay him a couple thousand Dollars a year and Import all you want Duty Free.
