Rent Motorbike 3 Months

I'm proposing to rent a motorbike for 3 months when I arrive in October so that we're not reliant on the local touts for transport.

But has anybody had any experience of renting from any of the following advertisers on Thaivisa classifieds and if so, was your experience negative or positive?

Well, to answer my own question concerning one of the advertisers, namely a guy called Fred whose ad appears in http://classifieds.t...rice-21326.html

I phoned him and he told me he wants 4,500 Baht for one month even though his ad specifically states that that is the rate for 3 months. It's not special deal in any event since his daily rate is only 145 Baht anyway.

I hope the rest aren't going to turn out the same way. :(

It may help to post in the forum where you will be staying to get a recommendation for a rental. Getting a good deal can save you a lot in the long run. Never leave your passport as deposit and take a good look around the bike for any damage and take pictures of any if needed. Here on Samui I used a farang guy. An automatic or semi automatic cost me 2000 baht a month and A couple of times a month when passing the shop I would drop in and he would check the bike over and make sure it was running fine.
