gotlost
No train unless you want to go all the back to Bangkok then back up to Nong Kai. Better option is http://www.nokair.co...px/Welcome.aspx to Undo then its only a 60 kilometer jump to the Nong Kai. CNX to Udon. Also uper right hand corner under search insert, lao visa run and click on This forum. Edited September 10, 2010 by gotlost
YuriGuest2010
from NongKhai to Friendship bridge is very near take about 20 to 30mins by Tuk Tuk around 40 bahts only. Then you have to go to the Thai immigration for exit stamp after that you can wait for the bus to take you across the bridge cost about 20 baht. Upon arrival in Laos side you need to apply for Visa if you are not asian and the border and cost you about 30 US Dollars plus another 5 Dollars on weekend Overtime payment. After going to the Laos Immigration you can take a taxi from the border to the Vietiane city cost 200 baht only. Max (No more extra charges). It will take about 30 to 45 mins to arrive the city of Vietiane from the Border. If you share with anyone in 1 taxi and share the amount equally..not a problem. thrilled
From bkk to Udon,it depends on your schedule. If ya have plenty of time take the night train 1st class. You'll have your own room to sleep the night away.If your pressed for time take the plane. It takes 1 hour and prices are fair.
