Multi Entry Non "O" Question

Featured Replies

Does it matter how long you leave the country before returning while you have a Non "O" visa? I'm currently on a Multi entry "O" visa and have left Thailand for 2 months and will be returning next week. I got the VISA in March 2010. Is it still valid or do I have to get a new visa?

Thanks...

Assuming you have a normal one year multi entry non-immigrant O visa and your passport remains valid for the entire period, it doesn't matter how long you stay outside Thailand on a particular trip, so long as you return sometime before the final validity date of your visa. The visa stamp in your passport will show its final valid date.

During the validity of your visa, every entry into Thailand would be stamped with a 90 day permission to stay. Every time you leave and return, you'd get a new 90 day permission to stay, right up until the day before your visa expires, which would be the last possible re-entry date to obtain a new 90 day permission to stay stamp.

As long as you have a valid multi entry visa, no re-entry permit required.

At the end of your final permission to stay based on the visa, you'd either need to obtain a newly issued visa outside Thailand, or obtain an extension of stay inside Thailand based on one of the categories, such as retirement or marriage to a Thai citizen.
