Leaving Thailand Where Would You Go?

sure and Americans are welcomed everywhere in America.

Wonder why no one mentioned India, Sri Lanka or Nepal.

If you are already complaining about the pollution and supposed Thai discrimination against farang in Thailand then India will be literally hel_l on earth.

I live on the beach, here is no pollution. So it is on many beaches in India and in the mountains. And I don't feel discriminated by the locals at all, quite the contrary.

I'm talking about the mainstream Indian cities not tourist dives or Goa.

That must be great news to all Mexicans who want to move to LA.;)

sorry, forgot that.

In Germany we call U.S.-Americans often simply Americans.

....... the bottom line plan has to be to return home ......

No, no.

I had to spend 4 months in the UK last year for medical treatment,

but going back to live........... :bah:

I think no matter where you go, other than your home country, visas will be an issue.

That depends on the passport you hold.

I am welcome anywhere in the EU. :D

There are NO issues with your visa in Cambodia , some people read but never learn anything they have no desire to do , all the effort it takes is a short walk to a friendly travel agent , pay the fee and leave passport for which you get a reciept , go back after 5 the next day , all fixed and finished for 1 month to one year , whatever turns your crank . Most everything here goes that way , I do not believe you can name a place more stress free than here , that has been my experience for the past five years , denegrate me , that is your choice , but I win .

So you think that people would only choose cities for living?? :o That did cross my mind.... :(

Life in Mumbai is not for the faint hearted.

Pune or Bangalore would be my choice, that little bit of elevation

makes a pleasant difference to the climate.

A friend lives in Anantapur.

His rent is $500, for a whole year..... :D

But visas are a hassle, having to leave every 6 months.

Now the added bother of having to stay away for 2 months

before returning.

Anyone who knows about the region is aware that Malaysia never was a "secular" state to begin with so there is no "creeping Islamization" of the country. Malaysia is constitutionally an Islamic state as Islam is enshrined as the official religion in its constitution; and all Malays born in the country are automatically deemed to be Muslim and subject to both secular civil laws and Islamic Sharia laws as they are applied to mainly personal, family, and gastronomic matters.

However, other ethnicities, and foreigners living in the country, are free to practice their own religions or none at all, and are not subject to the strictures of Sharia law. However, they will feel the general "prudy" atmosphere of the country due to the fact that something like 80% of the population are Muslim.

What I like about Malaysia is you get most of the English language ability, "Western" thinking mentality, and scenic tropical beauty found in the Philippines, even the women are similar in appearance being both ethnically Indo-Malay peoples, and the much better infrastructure and general political stability of Malaysia.

The Malaysian system of government and the administration of justice you only need to look at it to know that Malaysia is not (yet) an Islamic State.

The Civil Courts set up under the Constitution dispense secular justice on a daily basis to all the citizens of the country which was originally based on the British Parliamentary system.

Secular law governs contracts, commerce, international relations and trade and every aspect of the lives of a Malaysian citizen. Islamic Sharia law governs specific matters set out in the Federal Constitution in relation to persons professing Islam...now the Islamists have gone beyond that claiming the Malays as Muslim even before they are born?

FYI, The Malays make up over 50% of the population and are not an indiginous race and as such are immigrants the same as the minority Chinese and Indian Malaysian populations, which if you ask any educated Indian or Chinese Malay are heavily discriminated against by the Malay Muslims.

Malaysia is at a crossroads and if you are thinking of your families future as not being subject to Islamic stricture please dont consider moving to Malaysia.

Well Guesthouse , you took my thoughts and put them in print , thank you , I am still at the rapid 2 finger stage of typing LOL .

I am somewhat bemused by Brits who so often denegrate the countyr that educated(?) them and gave them much of thier expertise to survive , plus a pension of some kind or another to enable them to live elsewhere , some of them ripping off tax payers blind with a false 'Home address' , living in pretext to enable them to rip off another yard or two . In the next mini-breath , they are running thier homeland into the ground and calling it a shithole , in the next breath they are scheming to have thier wives and kids (including the adopted ones) put onto thier pensions , then proceed with the cat calling .

Enough is enough , you either appreciate your home country for what it is or <deleted> , you ungratefull sons of a soi bitch , yes , I am entitled to air my spleen whether you like it or not , the truth will out and there are times you will not like it .

Dumball,

I can relate to your attitude to an extent. However, the UK is not the best res. these days is it. And regarding the pension you talk so fondly of, well that will be a figment of ones imagination soon. I certainly expect to get nada from them when my time comes.

Not sure what you mean about putting people onto pensions and false addresses? Maybe the Govt. treating pensioners differently regarding where they choose to retire is the real issue?

Regarding education, well my post-schooling was paid for by moi and only moi - and still feeling the debt thanks very much UK Govt.!

I do appreciate my birth country for what it is though - a shithole!! Does that mean i am entitled to my opinion now? I don't care if you like it or not !!

Live in a country that distributes Heroin for free to drug addicts and poses as a safe haven to banks who made their fortunes by stealing assets from Jews cremated by Nazis and therefore unable to claim back their deposits..?

Nah, I'll pass.
