Up here in the North of Isaan it is becoming a pleasure to go for a drive. Since the diesel prices started there dramatic rise the amount of traffic on the roads has fallen at a paralleled rate. Parking in town is no problem now but in saying that the bloody motorbike riders still don’t give a shit where they stop, there numbers have diminished also.

Can you guys in the cities see any change?

No change on the Eastern seaboard... same same madness on the roads.

:o

I don't really expect any change here either... container trucks still have cargo to move, and Pattaya will always be a tourist destimation... for the Thais as well as farangs.

This afternoon I noticed that the traffic in my part of BKK (near Taksin bridge-east side) was way low....almost like a Sunday. Maybe it was just a fluke.

My normal weekday drive would have taken me 40 minutes round trip...today I did it under 20.

No sad to say, same number of suicidal motorcycle riders, possibly even more desperate, and no shortage of indifferent and indecisive can drivers.

The aggressive bus drivers are still up their tricks as well.

Mind you I did have a Tuk-Tuk driver tel me how bad things were and ask me for 20B for his lunch, sadly (for him) I was walking back from the shop and spent the only change I had in my pocket on some smokes.
