Business Visa Without Workpermit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I would like to make my first business visa, I am from Slovakia, 30 years old. With making business visa, it shouldn't be problem, but I worry about work permit - which I will not have. My question is:

do you have any advice, when I will make my first visa-run after 3 months on business visa (I will apply for multiple, 1 year), if they will change it to tourist visa, if I will dont have work-permit? I heard something, they have power to do this, but I want to know, in the reality, how often is this applied, or to know which border to avoid, etc.

Thanks for any help guys, your opinion/experience is welcome.

Not sure of your exact circumstances but - in my experience, you do not have to have a work permit if you have a business visa.

A work permit is for work that you do for yourself or for a Thai company. (Paid or unpaid.)

A business visa means that you are working on behalf of someone overseas. Not earning money in Thailand. I travelled and worked for some years in Thailand whilst I was employed by a UK company. I left the Kingdom regularly, but I was actually based here - working for the UK company.

I have not heard of anyone that has had a B visa changed to a tourist visa upon re-entry. However TIT.

Total nonsense. Immigration has no way to change a non immigrant visa to a tourist visa. But they always have the right to deny entry but that authority is seldom used.

"Total nonsense."

thanks guys, so business visa without work permit is the way to go (I will not work in Thailand), and I will always smile, when crossing the border :)

Here's the documentation you need to get a 1year multiple entry non-B.
