Police tailing black-clad conspirators suspected of plotting assassination

BANGKOK (NNT) -- A group of black-clad men believed to be plotting an assassination against the prime minister have been identified by police while a team of officers have been tailing the perpetrators closely to prevent possible attacks.

Speaking of the report on killing attempts against public figures, police revealed they have gathered information from the red-shirt protesters including the actor-turn-activist Methee Amornwutthikul, who were arrested during the April’s rally, about the terrorists clad in black.

The latest report was on the suspect who had undergone weapon training in Cambodia and is now hiding in Thailand. This man is reportedly very skilled; however, the police already received his identity and whereabouts and is taking a close surveillance.

Intelligence agency reports that the assassination rumor has been spreading since the anti-government demonstration occupied Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong Junction. The news says there is a group of perpetrators hiding in a luxurious high-rise apartment in Soi Sukhumvit 31 from which they can observe the premier’s residence clearly. The police have heightened the security around the prime minister’s premises and tasked a force to keep a close surveillance on the suspects.

Besides the authorities have also assigned officers to guard the public figures, who reportedly have been targeted for assassination especially as the red-shirt rallies are approaching.

Suthep confirms traces of black-clad suspects near PM’s house

BANGKOK, 16 September 2010 (NNT) – Black-clad terrorist suspects really rented an apartment near Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's residence in Sukhumvit, Bangkok but they have already moved out from the place, according to Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs Suthep Thaugsuban.

Mr Suthep confirmed the black-clad terrorist suspects issue recently reported by Metropolitan Police Chief Police General Santhan Chayanont. He, however, noted that related authorities had been assigned to investigate immediately but found out that they had already left their den.

The Deputy Prime Minister continued that related officers were monitoring movements of those ill-intentioned people closely while security measures to shield Prime Minister Abhisit from assassination attempts would be tightened.

Mr Suthep, nonetheless, shrugged off any necessity to arrange safe houses for key figures and politicians targeted in the assassination plot, especially during the gathering of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) from 17 to 19 September 2010.

The anti-government UDD plans to hold its symbolic political activities to commemorate the fourth anniversary of 19 Sep Coup d’état in many provinces across Thailand, including the capital city.

Not surprising to learn that Methee has been ratting out his fellow Red Shirts/Black Shirts.

He's a bully (shown here beating up a much smaller, older man last year):

bullyv.jpg

and as is common with many bullies, once he's be made... he crumbles and squeals.

The Advocate for Red Free Speech and Peace Movement Methee in action:

btw, the small old man was simply asking to get paid for the advertising work he had printed for Methee's political party, the PTP, and for that egregious offense, he gets pummeled.

As for the black shirt assassins, this squealer may wish to consider his position within his Red organization as he stands now.

Thug outfits usually don't take kindly to rats.

I am sure one of them smokes. Just get the cigarette police to bust them.

How can you broadcast that you have identified and located people suspected of planning to assassinate a prime minister (which the last time I looked would be murder), and DO NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

In which case, one can only assume that this the government "crying wolf" and I don't believe one word of it.

What kind of stupid and uneducated reason is this " Police did not check the condo because it is a private property "

I would imagine that in most countries the police needs a search warrant issued by a court upon specific request before they can do the search. The request would be judged and needs clear justification as to why a place is suspicious. Rule of law, you know.

Mind you as usual the OP, government statements are laughable. Probably a bit lost in translation as well.

<snip>

Yes, and they didn't live in a suite, or an apartment, or even a room. It has to be "a den". OMG! They lived in a den!

they had already left their den.

PM Home Heavily Guarded as Sept 19 Approaches

Police and military officers have been called to Bangkok to support security operations to safeguard the residence of the prime minister ahead of the fourth anniversary of the most recent coup d'etat.

Police have stepped up security measures at the residence of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva as well as at a few roads nearby.

Police explained that the operation is made up of Thong Lor Police, the 191 emergency police, border patrol police and military personnel.

Police said they are looking into news reports which claimed that a troop of unidentified men in black or camouflage attire have rented a condominium near the home of the premier.

In addition, security measures have also been put in place to protect important places and homes of other high profile figures in the area.

The move comes as the fourth anniversary of the Sept 19 coup is approaching, and political movements are expected to intensify.

Red-shirt supporters have announced that they will stage a mass rally to mark the anniversary in Bangkok and several other provinces to remember the coup that ousted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the deaths of those who died in the bloody dispersal on May 19.

Undoubtedly, as well as inadequately reading of the supplemental reports such as Post # 3

I had a black polo shirt and olive green shorts on today at Emporium.

Perhaps not upscale enought attire I admit, and hence why the security guard in kinkobaluga book store was making sure I wasn't going to put the 3 fold out books I earmarked for my son up my shirt without paying.

They must have stayed in groups of less then five. Nothing could be done - they did get the 5 kids in Chang Mai so I feel a little safer now.

One thing I don’t understand. Don’t they know the military is in charge and if not Abisit, someone else like Abisit will be in charge? These guys and their stupid leader have no change changing the policy over here. All they can do is to make it more difficult and miserable for the common people , the ones who support the stupid leader

Newsflash: Police are keeping a man under close observation in Nakorn Nayok who they suspect may be responsible for a string of burglaries in the area.

They say the man is wearing a black and white striped sweater, a black mask and carrying a large bag over his shoulder with "SWAG" printed on it in large letters.

Reports have yet to be confirmed that he is accompanied by a British Bulldog clad in exactly the same attire.

With the past news releases and action by the BIB as well as other government groups its possible those being watched and the watchers work for the same side. One group were in arrears on rent so they moved to other lodging. Many of the present officials could do with a gag order as they seem to be counterproductive to any meaningful campaign for the next elections.

If this article is a true representation of what was said to the journalist by a Deputy Minister of Security, he is a undercover candidate for the other side. Just point him in some direction and he will prove his worth, to whoever, wherever they may have been rumored to be, been, or going.

How did they move out and disappear while under surveilance?

Would they really dress in all black and TRY to stick out like a sore thumb?

Like casing the bank the day before the robbery wearing a mask in the lobby.

Do Thais ever use their brains?

Either we have the worlds worst police or the dumbest assassins...You decide!
