Changing Email Address On Amazon

When I first signed up with Amazon.com it propagated my account details to all its branches in other countries. I just changed my email address on amazon.com a few hours ago but at the other branches I can use both the old and new addresses. Anyone know if the change will get propagated to the other branches eventually? I can't change the old email to the new email at the other branches because (I assume) the system knows the new email address is already in use at amazon.com.
