PaulDavies
Having tried ALL the so called fishing trips (and today) I can tell you that Deep sea fishing is a waste of time in Thailand, its overfished and you are very unlikely to catch anything over say 3kgs if that. I seen the pics but never seen in reality. Its a nice day out and thats it. Good luck and let me know if you catch anything big.
rick625
I have been deep sea fishing in Phuket with private chartered boats and had a great time. If you don't want to head down there then there is actually a lake to fish in bangkok that has all sorts of giants. Don't even bother try to fish in Pattaya. I would be interested to hear about what you decided to do and how it went. You can go to Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok and fish or contact one of the fishing guides and have them meet you out there. http://www.bungsamran.com/en/ http://www.john-tom.com/FishingInThailand/FishingInThailand.html#FishingGuide http://www.siamfishingtours.com/ PHUKET http://www.thebigblues.com/ http://www.phuket-fishing.com/ SAMUI http://www.fishinginthailand.com/index.html KRABI http://www.gillhamsfishingresorts.com/

contemplating
Probably you are not really looking for a Thai fishing pond experience, but maybe the other posters are right, its all fished out here. Years ago, Bang Saray was where people went to go shark or sail fishing. I dont know what the situation there is now. Pond fishing is alright if you are planing on having a meal, and some beer, but it isnt quite like out in the sea. Between Phi Phi island and Phuket was good fishing for sail fish before. I have caught a couple there, 23 and 24 kg, not the biggest, but had the time of my life. Took 55 min to get the 24kg in, and 40 degree heat. I will never forget that fish!! Good luck!
