this evening, in bangkok, i met someone who used this word often.

what does the word mean to you?

i did quick search and came up with the following definitions:

http://dictionary.re...m/browse/sucker

–noun 1.a person or thing that sucks.

http://www.thefreedi...nary.com/sucker

2. Informala. One who is easily deceived; a dupe.

http://www.macmillan.../british/sucker

  1. INFORMAL someone who is easily tricked or easily persuaded to do something

One poor sucker had actually given her his life's savings.

Yep, it means just what you said.

If you were to ask me that question in Canada I would say it is a coarse fish with large scales, and commonly caught in BC rivers... Catostomus Machrocheilus

Large_scale_sucker.sized.jpg

But seeing as the question comes from Thailand I would say it is number 2 on your list... Someone easily deceived.

It's usually someone who wants something without putting any effort into getting it... like people who buy lottery tickets. The word can also be confused with fools.

All suckers are fools, but not all fools are suckers.

Someone who has been fooled, mislead. A sucker punch. Being ripped off. Taken for a ride.

All been guilty of this sh!t. Gotta laugh though.

Sucker

Yah, but one person's sucker is another person's gold mine. :D

A person who claims that the price of a BMW can be reduced by employing a biling....triling....multilingual gardener, if that aint a sucker I dont know what is..

Yah, but one person's sucker is another person's gold mine. :D

There ya go... always lookin' at the silver lining.

I do recall a guy at work selling 2 empty plastic boxes to another employee for 5 bucks a shot. The boxes held some cheap arse gage pins. Laughing my <deleted> off stiil to this day.

A bar girl I used to know named, Oy.

Lips like sink plungers she had and wow, could she suck. After a few months I began to go crosseyed and had to give her up.

A sucker is someone who gets sucked into making bad calls. In thailand this could describe someone like Lake Palmer.

A sucker is someone who gets in over their head because they were thinking with the wrong one.

Same sucker often found landed on the bigger of the two heads after falling from a balcony.

Similar sucker been seen fishing out the smaller head from the dog's food bowl after being dismembered.

Strange thing about suckers. They seldom think they are one.

A sucker, one of those things on a giant octopus that will leave a red circle mark on your arm in the movies.

I've never seen an octopus inside the cinema before.

There's one born everyday.

I've never seen an octopus inside the cinema before.

You should try the 3D at IMAX.

OK, is this personal? :crying:

If this is purely an exercise in word association, when you say sucker I think: "Pattaya gentlemen with thai bargirl".

Sorry if this offends, but I am told in another thread that stereotypes and generalisations are important :jap:

That would be a c**k-sucker, and, yes, it's not good for your well-being on even an occassional basis. I, also, had to stop seeing a particular girl cause she was far and above the usual ones. It's difficult to explain why she was so talented in that regard.

How about anyone who responds to (what they think) are topic related advertisements here? Post a topic, or even a reply, and you will get ads that are. sometimes, so unrelated to what's being discussed, that it's almost obscene.

Does it help if gold is used in the BMW purchasing process?
