September 24, 201015 yr I'm currently in a situation where I'm trying to buy a ticket over here in Europe but I want to make sure I get one that I can change if need be without paying an arm and a leg. I bought my original ticket via expedia.com and wasn't given the option of travel protection (I injured myself, had to extend my stay, Luft-shit-hansa wouldn't let me do anything other than fly out on my original flight). Anyway, on the BKA website, after you choose your dates of travel, it has several different fares available depending on what options you want with the ticket and this info is readily available at the click of a mouse. Not only that, but the price difference between them is quite small. Very convenient. I wish sites like expedia had the same. Another thing, I like their lounge in BKK, the little snacks and free wi-fi. Over in Helsinki, it's something like 8 Euros/hour for Internet and that's not in a comfy lounge either. September 24, 201015 yr If you buy a ticket direct from an airline, you will get many choices of fares/classes/options etc. Expedia etc sell cheaper tickets - in general - because they do not have those additional options. If I want a cheap ticket that I am confident I will not need to change, I use Expedia. If I want flexibility I use the airline directly and pay more. As far as I am aware Bangkok Air do not allow the likes of Expedia etc to sell their tickets - that would mean giving away up to 30% of the profit!!!
September 27, 201015 yr Online booking & options depending on fares , available with all major airlines. What makes BKK air stand out & necessitate another thread?
September 27, 201015 yr Koheesti posted a thread praising BKK Airways Reservation system. For some reason this post has been locked. Seems a tad unfair when the tirade from the 'same old, same old' brigade against BA on this Forum goes on interminably. ( I agree the prices are too high, but the subject has been done to death). The moment a word of praise is mentioned the post discussion is stopped with no good explanation.
September 27, 201015 yr have no idea why it was stopped, but they are separate issues. The topic re high prices is very valid as it affects us all. Having a great reservation system is all well and good, for instance i think their service is good too,i like the airport lounge, free food and coffee, but i dont like it as much as i hate their price structure, now i dont fly in or out of samui anymore....................am sure bangkok air are wringing their hands with worry about one less passenger.
September 27, 201015 yr Well Comber, They won't be upset about the loss of one passenger indeed. However, if more people start to stop using them, at some stage they may or may not feel a difference. in turn over. It will be difficult though, many people will still use them since they are conveniently located on this island after all, whether you agree with their price structure or not. On one hand they put Samui on the map with their airport and the risk they took years ago but now they keep Samui in a strangle hold and it seems they're slowly strangling the golden cow. Their own goose is still pooping out golden eggs, but I wonder how thick the gold layer on these eggs is nowadays.
September 27, 201015 yr Open by popular demand. I let you know what my biggest concern is, it will turn into another negative thread. Will wait & see.
September 27, 201015 yr My readings of the posts about Bangkok Air leads me to believe that we are all very much in agreement; Their service is fantastic. Their price is too high. The only real difference between us is that some believe the high price is worth it. Some don't. Or can't afford it. Simple really?
September 28, 201015 yr Their service is fantastic. was my first reaction......but maybe I'm just getting senile. I can remember when the service really was a cut above. Now its fairly average.
September 28, 201015 yr Well for the benefit of the few satisfied customers I can report a full plane today including the whole of business class. Beer wass cold ...food poor quality. Same same.
September 28, 201015 yr There was also other topics with praise, why not revive & post there?.. you could open 2 un removable topics. one for positive BBk airways threads and one for negative. Maybe one for confussed people about the system. that that is that. 3 threads to mark the end of a monster of threads. dunno what u think
September 28, 201015 yr So, if this is the website where we only say good things about Bangkok Airways, then I have this to say...... Umm Err Ah yes - they fly people to Samui every day Well done Bangkok Airways and Thank You

September 29, 201015 yr Just a bit ironic don't you think that below smokies post there is this google advert? How intruiging. I wonder what happens if we start a thread on 'Worst loo in Thailand'? EDIT: Or as I'm at a loose end in Bangers for a coupla days 'Best non family oriented entertainment venue' could throw up some interesting ads..... Edited September 29, 201015 yr by smokie36
September 30, 201015 yr Here's a question for all the well heeled and happy posters on this thread. Being a spontaneous (read disorganised) mug that I am the only flight available to me at the time I want to fly tomorrow is biz class at 5800 Baht.....the alternative was 4700 Baht in cattle flying three hours later which would be a total waste of 'bar open' time imo. So the question is how do I take best advantage of the lounge facilities to claw back as much of my 1100 Baht as possible? Thanks for any and all suggestions. :jap:
