Passport For My Baby

Featured Replies

hi

can anyone help me? i am married to a thai woman. we have a baby together who is now one year old.we have a british passport for her but we have yet to get a thai passport. can we still get a thai passport for her? any info on this would be brilliant.

thank you.

yes you can.

Where was the baby born? If in Thailand, you go to the nearest passport office. If born overseas, then you do it at the Thai embassy in the country where the child was born.

You need proof of Thai birth, such as mom's Thai ID and baby's birth certificate. Also, you need the house registry (tabien baan) showing your baby's address here in Thailand. Take proof of Thai birthright and copy of tabien baan to get the Thai passport. Costs 1000 baht for the passport, 30 baht if you want it mailed to you, or you pick it up in 3 days.

Believe you are in the UK, was the child born in the UK?

If so, you first need to register the birth with the Thai embassy in London and at the same time you can apply for a Thai passport. Under Thai law both parents have to sign the passport application!

Have a look at their website for more details about registering the birth and applying for a passport.

The child has both nationalities, this is not a problem under the law of either country.
