Well Russia has said it will do everything to make sure he does not get to the US, so I guess the fun starts here

That would explain his new Kevlar wardrobe and Balaclava-clad friends:

Noted a different facial expression above going INTO court than when he LEFT court as he doesn't look like a happy camper after today's turn of events:

Suspected Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout is escorted by members of a special police unit after a hearing at a criminal court in Bangkok October 5, 2010. A Thai court on Tuesday dismissed charges of money-laundering and wire fraud against Bout, bringing him a step closer to extradition to the United States.

Are those the men in black we hear so much about lately?

They are as much as the "men in black" as are the rap stars at the Nasa Vegas Hotel.

I agrrrreeeeeeee with all posts about <deleted> Chenney and about Ronald Raygun selling weapons to all the wrong people. Iran Contra and bin laden were big US screw ups.

None of this shiiit makes Bout innocent or even belongs in this thread. Today is now...stop living in the 80s.

1980s? Cheney was Vice President until 2009. Blackwater is still with us under the guise of Xe Services. I did not say Bout was innocent. If you troubled to read my post, you would see that I suggested that Uncle Sam was equally guilty.

Should they send him to a country that unofficially tortures people? How about sending him to a country where he sold weapons and has tried to kill its people?

Selling weapons is per se not illegal.

It would be justified to send him to a country where he sold guns, if they have some prove, or send him home. Or if he broke any laws in Thailand, he might go to jail here.

Or maybe to any international court.

But for what reason to USA???

Would Thailand send the next American who might sold weapons to Israel (South Korea) to Iran (North Korea) just because they demand so?

If they had an extradition agreement with them and there was proof of relevant crimes, they probably would.

Under President Obama, torture has stopped. Bush and Cheney should indeed be tried as war criminals, but that doesn't mean Bout shouldn't face trial.

No, check Wikipedia: "In April 2009, the U.S. Department of Defense refused to say whether waterboarding is still used for training (e.g., SERE) purposes." Edit: Forgot the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterboarding

Torture exists in all secret services and that guy knows something.

USA has a lot of secret prisions. For what does a country need secret prisions if not to secret torture there?

Apparently there is proof that he broke US laws. They don't necessarily need to be broken while he is in the US.

Who wants to bet that a headline within this month will be:

"Victor Bout is missing, walked free from jail as cell door was left unlocked by mistake"

In typical Thai fashion, as now the U.S. is about to get Victor shipped out to them, the Thais do not wish to piss off the Russians as well and will stage a fake breakout via some silly 'mishap'. This, allowing to wipe their hands of this dude.

Of course, the Thai Navy will be involved as he will be ferried out to sea into international waters and left to drift 'Rohingya Style'.

Thai court clears way for U.S. extradition of suspected arms dealer

Bangkok, Thailand -- A Thai court has cleared the way for the United States to move to extradite an accused international arms dealer on terrorism charges, but he is expected to throw up as many legal roadblocks as possible. The criminal court ruled to not extradite defendant Viktor Bout on money-laundering and wire-fraud charges, giving prosecutors 72 hours to appeal. That decision means that an August court ruling stands, at least temporarily, allowing him to be extradited to the United States on the terrorism charges.

The Thai appeals court added at the time that Bout should be released if the process was not completed within three months. Bout's lawyer said he will use every legal way to stall the extradition. On Tuesday, his wife cried and hugged him after the court ruling.

In every tragedy and natural disaster the US has been the first to provide aid all over the world.

That is rich...but incorrect.

IMHO Anybody willing to supply S-A missiles to a terrorist organization should be hung, drawn and quartered. That is exactly what Mr Bout thought he was doing.

So you want to kill off everyone that was in US congress anytime from 1979 to 1988?

(Hint: Afghanistan, FIM-92 Stinger anti-aircraft missile)

So Iran can request any Americans to be extradited to them for any crime they commit...in a third country?

Well they can try if they want, just start asking and see how it goes.

Hope you enjoy the US courtroom Victor.

I have no time whatsoever for international arms dealers. But I'm sure I am not the only one sickened by the hypocrisy and hubris of the USA, the world's largest and most incorrigible arms dealer. Yes, it's wrong to arm FARC. It's also wrong to arm, indiscriminately, the Israeli regime with - for example - millions of anti-personnel bobmblets to use against Lebanese civilians, or white phosphorus to use against Palestinian children. I'd like to see Cheney and his cohorts from Blackwater in court with Mr Bout. Meanwhile a little less self-satisfaction from The Empire and its denizens would be seemly.

Oh quit whining you Holier Than Thou Self-Enlightened One...sure the US has had it's share of episodes that are not at all flattering. But please do tell me just how things would have been without the involvement of the US in innumerable instances??? And please don't feed me some Pollyanna/Kumbaya BS that the world would be one happy, peaceful place without the US. Go look into the stunts the Soviets pulled in Afghanistan and their own people.; the Chinese pull on their own people. I am sick and tired of US bashing from you f'ing cowards from EuroLand, the UK, Oz, etc.

If Bout gets extradited to the US, I wager the Russkies will arrange for some sort of "accident" to befall dear Mr. Bout. No way they will allow him to go anywhere near a US courtroom, or to be interrogated by the FBI, etc.

Maxman71 is correct. All you people bitchingg would be doing it in German or Japanese if there was no US! Some morons are just so full of hate.

Talk about Bout and stay on topic

5555555555555555555  The facts indicate otherwise.  Don't believe all that Hollywood style BS. It was clear that by the time the US entered WW2 Germany could not win the war. The Battle of Britain and the Russians saw to that. To some, the fact that the US has been late in attending two world wars seems to be driving them to be really early for the next one.

You seem to be a tad touchy about some comments. Maybe all that Latin blood flooding over your borders and working itself into the gene pool is making you so excitable and emotional. Do learn to acquire a stiffer upper lip. there's a good chap.

Is there anybody in this forum who at one time or another has not bitched about something or other in Thailand? Does that mean that they hate the place? Furthermore, name calling isn't an endearing  quality and very unlikely to assist in furthering any contention that you might make.

Tell that to the thousands of Americans who died fighting to help Europe ans Asia to not be taken over by tyrants.

When I said morons hate...I stand by that. But your post about the gene pool was very rude and off topic again.

They would need:

1) an extradition treaty with the third country,

2) a law that says that if an American (in this case) breaks the law in another country they can be charged in Iran.

The US has a few laws where they can charge someone for doing something outside the US.

Reg 2), I am sure they are not against creating banana-laws too... so in the close future we might be seeing Americans and others being extradited from several middle eastern and north African countries atleast...based on funky evidence, to be placed in the worst prison Iran can offer.

If that happens, please don't complain.

I doubt that, but if that happens there will be a war on between Iran and the US. There is already a kind of proxy war. Things are coming to a head in the next year or two, especially if the Palestine-Israel talks fall apart.

I never said I agreed with it.

I just pointed out how it happens.
