Playing Fps In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hello,

I like to play FPS on internet.

But even with a more or less good connection (12Mega, true move) , my ping seems reallt bad when I play in european or american servers (300 ping most of time)

Is there something I can do about this ? There is no asian servers for the game I like. (america's army 3)

Slightly longer answer also = no but it can be playable.

Your Ping works like that of the ping associated with sonar technology. Its a measure of the time it takes for packets of data to get from your PC to the game server. This can only move so fast, so the further you are away from the server the higher your ping will be. Some software is available that helps you to speed this up, but it doesn't help that much (at least not that it will be noticeable to you 300ms does not feel much different to 270ms).

So no, not much you can do other than learn to compensate. In some games you can do this shooting earlier, loose a few more rounds off, aim ahead of their movement, or use a weapon with a higher rate of fire (even if it means less damage).

I like the cut of your jib!!

Quick answer = YES!

i had the same problem as you, which i noticed playing BFBC2.

Do a few traceroutes, and you'll see something in there called "trueinternetgateway.com" or something similar. This device adds 250ms onto your ping. You can verify this by tracing to (i think) some chinese or hong kong sites. They do not go via this device, and the pings are in the 60's

Anyway, once I noticed this, and have experience in the ISP industry, I was able to get it through to True support where the problem was and how to remove it. 30 minutes later, and a pleasant phone call back, all was solved, and all was well. All my machines (PS3/X360/PC) could play online without any problems.

The device in question is i think a deep packet inspection device, so by rights should not be used for UDP gaming traffic. Call them up and they should add you to the whitelist..

Good Luck.

This is interesting.

Were you playing BF on PC or PS3.... very interesting what you said there, but trying to explain that on 3bb will be a nightmare

Hi,

It was on both. The "Thai only" servers were about 300ms in the server browser. This reduced to around 40 - 60 once i had my little chat.

Can't give the numbers on the Ps3, but i went from mediocre to kickass in a very short time after....

I'm unsure about 3BB's network, but do a few traces, and you may see a similar "jump" in ping times after hitting a certain device.

can I ask your PSN?

Ping will depend on the connection and largely on the distance to the server. I have played a lot of TF2 on a Thai server and my ping was great. I also played some COD4 and Modern Warfare and it was alright. On my PS3, I get bad lag due to the PS3 connecting to overseas servers since you can't choose what server you connect to. Just try to find a good server and put it on your favorite list.

thais don't play any fun games.. t he closest thing to a good game is counter strike..

Just play your FPS offline, its the only fix :(
