The West Goes 4G

Featured Replies

Yeah except HSPA+ isn't 4G. T-mob marketing can talk about how it provides "4G speeds" all day long, it doesn't make it 4G. They can't legally call it 4G either. ;)

As for 3G try making a phone call in San Francisco, then let's talk about how backwards Thailand is. I mean it's true that Thailand is taking a ridiculous time to get 3G working, thanks to corruption and vested interests, but I've never seen a phone network as bad as AT&Ts in the major metropolitan areas in the USA. I was in a cafe in Cole Valley and had no reception. That's smack in the middle of SF, and SF isn't exactly a large city, area-wise.

Look at the HSPA+ coverage of T-Mobile - a handful of cities, that's it. As percentage of the population, less coverage than True 3G for sure.

I would be willing to wager that in a mere 30 years or so Thailand will also have 4G. This country is way behind their communists neighbors. Come to think of it is Land of Scams really a democracy? Humn.

Those organizations that were created to push technology forward in Thailand have now become those that are trying the hardest to prevent progress. There's a delicious irony in that.
