Agencies to simulate car explosion at Newark Airport during Saturday drill

2010-10-16 00:53:47 GMT+7 (ICT)

NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) -- Multiple agencies will be participating in a training exercise at Newark Liberty International Airport near New York City on Saturday, officials said on Friday.

The drill that will simulate a car explosion near one of the terminals will involve the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, local, state and federal agencies.

"Travelers will see emergency vehicles around Terminal B and may see smoke as part of a simulated incident," the Authority said, adding that the exercise will last from 8.30 a.m. EDT to 11 a.m. EDT with set up before and clean up afterward.

Authorities believe the drill will not affect flight operations or travelers, although a small portion of the terminal will be closed as part of the operation.
