I haven't been here five mins. I've been visiting here three months at a time since the age or 11, now I'm 17. Do the math.

Also I'm not going to argue back at your comments because I believe them to be excuses around the real truth. You wouldn't be getting so argumentitive if you had nothing to hide. People when surrounded by the facts end up getting arumentitive. So I'll just lay back and take a back seat. Saves the typing.

He's dosen't want to be alone so he's married a Thai. So he's just doing it to not be lonely. To me that is wrong.

You're entitled to your opinion. I've found in my life that love is usually a product of habit. As time goes by I hope your Dad and his Thai wife can come to appreciate each other and eventually fall in love. I wish him the best of luck and a long marriage. :o

it seems to me that ice maiden is angry about her father's choices and is using this forum to vent her anger.

I feel sorry for her father as he is going to find life difficult with his new wife, having a daughter with such a huge chip on her shoulder

Wow.....at age 17 you know the 'real truth'. At age 17 I couldn't pour pi$$ out of a boot with the instructions on the heel! I take my hat off to you; oh enlightened one!

To have such knowledge at such a young age must really be a burden. :o

She's tough....she can take it! And give back! I just think some things need a response regardless of who/what age is the poster. :D Also, I'm guessing she appreciates someone who will disagree with her rather than patronize her because of her age.

Sweet young thing? Yes, for the moment until she grows up. And it isn't the right thing. Call me old fashioned but I believe the meaning of getting married is when you're in love with some one or even really care about someone enough to want to spend the rest of your days together.

My Dad dosen't love her, and he dosen't care for her. He's dosen't want to be alone so he's married a Thai. So he's just doing it to not be lonely. To me that is wrong.

Young "smitten" love, the majority of it is generally a few seconds long and rushed into with little thought. But at least they have feelings for each other. I'm not saying it's better or worse for that matter but why the comparison? Both are wrong.

Dear Ice go home you will be much happier there, your right Dad should not have married that lady, he should have kept hanging out with the hookers. Oh that right thats no good to Hmm!!! now this is a real problem, how do you go about living your fathers and yours, must be busy. As to your take on this culture I think you need to look at the local history a bit.

These girsl come from homes where they have food a house and clothes a education that is given to other Thia. They choose to make lots of money and that why they what they do, not to to put food on the table.

Frankly, it's hard to disagree with what she's saying, even if I don't entirely endorse the way she says it.

Come on guys .. . let's face up to it. There is something a bit obscene and embarassing about these guys wandering around with thai girls young enough to be their granddaughters and small enough to be their breakfast.

Whenever I see it, I don't know who I'm more embarassed for - the guy or the girl.

But, IceMaiden, don't confuse all farang with the sex tourists you are surrounded by in Pattaya (I think you said you lived there).

There are some farang who meet and fall for girls here who aren't hookers, and neither are the guys 'mongers', and vice versa. Some of the people on this board are in Thailand for career reasons . . . . if a guy in Thailand is single, it's almost inevitable that he will find a Thai GF - there aren't that many farang women in Thailand. There's not much anyone can do about that. It doesnt automatically follow that that guy is dating a prostitute, or that the girl in question is or has ever been a hooker.

A close second are people who try to push past you at the talat, then walk like snails once they get in front of you. But I usually don't let that bother me too much.

It doesn't bother me either when they cause me to stop abrupty when they walk right across my path, even though there's nobody behind me. :D

I am moderately well built (>Thai), and normally just walk on - and apologize briefly afterwards - without stopping, of course. :o

I tend to be polite as well, or at least take it all in stride. Although when strolling through the talat in Saraburi, the pathways are so narrow there's barely enough room slide a sheet of paper by let alone anyone else. It can be a bit of a hassle when there's three people ahead side-by-side making no effort to move aside. I just wait until they either move along or finally wander off some other direction. My wife has the uncanny ability to slide by like she was lathered in grease while I'm still stuck behind a trio of statues. On the other hand, when someone with a cartload of stuff or a motorcycle delivering something honks to get by, I take full advantage of the opportunity.

I find dark sunglasses and a blind mans walking cane do the trick. :D

Carry a cup and you might makea few bob too. :D

Ray 23 - I'm happy where I am thankyou very much. I have my Dad and my brother with me and I'm doing just fine. Just because I don't agree with my Dad's mistake and a load of other farangs mistake dosen't mean I don't like Thailand.

The hookers? I'm sure thats supposed to mean these girls "hook" you in or something. The majority in Pattaya now have faces like slapped <deleted> and layers of fat hanging out those small, tight tops, so the guys must be damned intoxicated. But to some guys that dosen't matter because they'll of been gagging for some sexual relief in the past decade or so. So as long as they are young and willing to open those legs of theirs, ###### it dosen't matter.

And if my Dad was to "hang around with the hookers" it would of been worse Ray. Maybe he'd of been sexually relieved but so would his bloody bank account. Oh and he'd have no daughter.

And as for the culture I think I understand what I need to about the Thais. For one the phrase "The land of smiles" must of been made on a good day. And you know something? I carn't be bothered to reply because I don't understand your post. Looks like you were drunk when typing....probably had one of those "hookers" in bed with you too.

Another thing that also annoys me is being woken up at six in the morning to hear a Thai screaming his head off and calling it singing in celebration of Buddha. I don't care if someone has turned 20 and turned to the Buddha religion. All I care about at that hour is sleeping and getting the guy some bloody singing lessons instead of damaging my ear drums and a thousand other peoples including Buddha himself.

stop it with this siht, Its part of life here in Thailand, people wake early, its called WORK. Stop whinging just because someones ruining your beauty sleep. :o

Okay, so define "WORK' I believe it to be earning a salary and a job. Not a drunken thai singing well screaming in celebration of his familys birthday. And beauty sleep I have enough of that :o

I'm 32, you are coming across as - jealous (of your Dads new wife?) and you are coming across as more of a teenager than a young woman

Nooo. Thai women are beautiful and the majority friendly. I never said anything negative about thai ladies. Just the ugly prostitutes from Pattaya and the farangs indulging in such practises as <deleted>, marrying, dating or having "friendships" (we all know what code thats for) with thai prostitutes.
