What airline offers the best rates for flights to London and back? Going on holiday for a few days at the beginning of December, so have no idea where to look. Thai Airways is showing about 45,000 baht round trip. I'm hoping there's something MUCH lower than that. Am I dreaming?

Oman Air are getting better, Etihad have some kind of deal as well.

Thanks for that! Great price from Gulf Air. Will check several --Some of the roundtrip prices are really good. Never heard of Eva Air before. Any idea how good the service is?

Eva is a good airline, many posters on here use it. There are only the following direct flights EVA, Thai, BA (Qantas).

Another good one to check out if you want to go to Stanstead is Air Berlin or maybe Air Asia X (you need to get to Kuala Lumpur first).

I have not flown for for a while, but EVA used to be very good. I always flew Evergreen class. Business class seats and room, economy service and only $100 extra (approx). Look into it.

No way do you get real business class for $100 extra. Eva offers premium economy for a small amount over economy, but 2-4-2 seating and 38 inch seat pitch that in no way compares to business class on say Etihad, Qatar, BA, or EK.

Try Kingfisher for a real cheapy..I've never used it but I have friends that have and they say it is pretty good...I checked it's review with seat guru and the reviews are very good...return flight for about £490.

Only saw your post today otherwise I would have advised Air Asia X from KL to London for a basic fare of 1,860.00 MYR = 380.876 GBP return. But now there is only one date in December left at the Promo price of 634 MYR. Add another £120 or so for the connection for a fare of £500.

If you are on a budget and aren't in a hurry to get there, 31k is achievable otherwise.

1. LONDON ....

Taken from atninter website.

These quotes are all but useless as they don't contain the taxes and fees.

Yeah, I just realized that. Been looking through the price list but the taxes added are ridiculous. One of the prices was 28,000 plus taxes of 19,000 (!).

The problem with these prices is that they don't include taxes and fees. Some of the taxes on the flights above are up to 70 percent of the ticket price. So while a 24,000 ticket sounds great, when I logged into the website and chose a flight, it turned out that the taxes/fees were an additional 16,000. Seems a bit steep to me.

I just tried that Atninter website, albeit not to London, I need to go to Hong Kong in January.

Atninter offered me Thai, via Soul???, for 42,000 THB, whilst the Thai site offered me a direct flight for 11,000.

What I normally do is check the airlines sites and then phone round the agents, I have yet to find one that's cheaper and doesn't add all sorts of extras like charges for using a credit card , I accept others may swear by them.

I suspect airlines are edging agents out of the business.

I was going to post with similar advice about using the airline sites. The last time I even spoke to a travel agent in Bangkok was four years ago; I got right down to finalising the bill before being told about the card charge; I just walked out in disgust as up until then I'd been used to having discounts and payment protection for using credit cards. I think agents appeal to people who are phobic about using the internet, it's not an age thing, I have plenty of older friend more tech-savy than me.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would he re-route you to Seoul to get to Hong Kong? Perhaps there was some miscommunication along the way.

I've used ATN Inter in the past, as he specialises in EVA flights. I can't imagine him doing anything quite as obtuse.

I have no idea why the suggested route was via Seoul, as I say I used their website punching in BKK as a departure and HKG as my destination actually selecting Emirates as the carrier.

I have just done it again and I note that it has given me Emirates on the way out and Thai, via Seoul, on the return @ 42,250 THB. Certainly not miscommunication on my part, maybe a glitch with the website.

Air Asia from KL-Lon for anyone, especially if you are in Thailand is absolutly the worst and probably one of the most expensive trips you will have......basic price, plus, taxes, plus, baggage, plus food, plus drinks, plus cost to KL from BKK, plus extra cost from Stanstead...I travelled with BA recently at a cost of just over 700 quid, Air Asia from KL the same dates was the same....I have looked so many times at Air Asia and it just dosnt make sense...the initial quote seems cheap but its all the add ons and then getting there etc...even if you saved 20 quid, is all that hassle worth it....moztravel are good, check the website

I have flown AirAsia BKK-KL-STN return for 18000 bht all in.

To do that you have to book well in advance when the special offers come out.

Know when you want to travel and they can be a real bargain, leave it close to the time of travel and you'll struggle to find a cheap deal.

Oh, I see...you used the web booking engine. I certainly would trust any Thai web booking engine that wasn't an airline website.

Try going to the Emirates website direct. I've used them to fly directly to Hong Kong from Bangkok on a few occasions.

Sorry, your post is just nonsense and based on ignorance. As apetley has pointed out, if booked at a prudent time it can be by far the cheapest option.

Example of flights that I took:

I always use Eva I find them pretty reliable, comfortable and very reasonably priced. I have been using one of the sponsors on this forum to make all my bookings for the last 5 years

Save Flight...ask for Jane, she is extremely helpful.

On my last trip because EVA were cutting back on flights because of people's reluctance to travel to LOS after the troubles in April(understandable, no point flying planes with 30% capacity on board), Eva offered a nights hotel accommodation free for the aggravation a very good offer but because my parents live only 6 miles from Heathrow that was no good to me.

I had to re-book another flight to BK which cost me another 4,000B, as they moved the departure date forward one day.

Save Flight paid half of that even though it was really not their problem :)

Not many agents would do that :o

All we ever hear about on these forums are folks being scammed by agents, so this is a refreshing "reverse scam"

I can't recommend them highly enough
