Former Alaska governor Palin says she will run for president in 2012 "if there is nobody else to do it"

2010-10-29 02:26:43 GMT+7 (ICT)

WASILLA, ALASKA (BNO NEWS) -- Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin on Thursday said that she will run for president in 2012 "if there is nobody else to do it," Entertainment Tonight reported.

Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate, said that she has not decided on the issue but is considering for the event that there is no one willing to do it. However, she added that she will consult her family on the matter before reaching a decision.

The former governor added that a series of factors should considered too, such as whether there are people with the same conservative and pro-Constitution views as her and if there are suitable candidates already in the presidential race.

"If there's nobody else to do it, then of course I would believe that we should do this. If it turns out there are candidates who can do the job, they would have my full support," Palin said.

Currently, Palin collaborates with a national television network covering the mid-term elections. She also features in a television series that chronicles other facets of her life.

Whilst i think the Tea Party movement is a wonderful thing (ie non interfering govt and low taxes), this women is clearly as stupid as stupid can be and an absolute nutcase to top it off with, and puts a shadow over the Tea Partys common sense aims.

I cant believe out of how ever Americans support affordable government she'd be pick of the bunch.

Just to reinforce the idea of democracy in Israel there is this little gem.

You need to post links to these wacky far-left blogs as those are the rules. However, what do all these hateful comments on the Jews have to do with Sarah Palin running for president - which is the subject of the thread?

Why is a thread on Sarah Palin now a soapbox for some nutter to push an agenda of hate? What's next, an accusation that Sarah Palin is an evil jewess, because her name is the same as that of the Israelite Sarah, as featured in the Bible?

The answer lies in science: every time Pavlov's dog hears the bell ring, it salivates. Every single time.

The problem here is that the bell did not ring. This is a thread about a possible candidate for the president of the USA. It has nothing to do hateful conspiracy theories about the Jews.

It truly amazes me how the liberal side is so afraid of this one little woman from Alaska.

I find it highly unlikely she will run on the Republican ticket in 2012.

Since there is no such thing as a Tea PARTY, I can't see anybody running under a PARTY banner so I see little possibility here.

Much ado about nothing, except to stir up the Obama faithful.

Im on the liberal side and have many friends in the states who are also liberal /Democrats- the funny thing is, none of us are afraid of Palin. On the contrary, Democrats talk about Palin alot on line, newspapers, on TV etc. because we know she is a an overall major liability for the Republicans . The Republican base love her, the remaining population of the US (including many moderate Republicans) think she is a bit nutty and rather incompetent. She will never be elected President.

So like almost every Democrat i know, i can- hand on my heart- sincerely wish and hope that Palin is the Republican nominee for President.

I think you and other republicans are confused in that you think because Democrats talk about her a lot its because we are afraid of her, when in fact we'd love her to run for President :D

The funny thing is, she was really more qualified to be president, experience wise, than the last Democratic nominee.

Strange thing, American politics. :jap:

Don't like Obama, but can't stomach the possibility of her as an option, let's just hope someone else more grounded will step up to the plate. Maybe the waiter at the local coffee shop or something, or I may have to sit out this election in protest :annoyed: ..Oh wait! I've already been doing that since Reagan left office :whistling::rolleyes: ...

Yes, true in terms of work experience- neither of them shined. But Obama comes across as more knowledgeable/smarter and more articulate. Palin is a regular Mom type person- i know that is why she is so popular with the base- but personally i WANT a President to be smarter, more intelligent than me- whereas i think alot of the republican base would be happy to have someone 'just like them' be president (scary).

This raises another worrying trend i see among the republican base/tea partiers- a strong dislike and demonisation of the 'educated elites' linked to an increasing disdain for education (e.g. Harvard, Yale etc are all seen negatively as breeding grounds for these "elites" , another example- the fact that Jon Kerry could speak French was a negative item as far as many of the republican base were concerned. (i think this is a manifestation of an underlying inferiority complex that some less educated people have toward more educated people).

Interestingly, most empires in decline in history have manifested this anti-elite, anti- education trait- as former glories/achievements are lost the people begin to blame their leaders (who are invariably better educated part of society).

But as i said, i really hope Palin is the republican nominee.

I would be the last person to claim Obama is not intelligent.

I do, however, feel his intelligence and glib manner is highly overrated. He is virtually incapable of speaking without his teleprompter in a coherent manner. His attempts to provide spontaneous answers to any questions quickly fall into the category of a classroom lecture. While it seems he is quick on his feet, so to speak, I often feel he is searching for the right words and the least politically damaging way to respond to any question.

It would be much easier for all of us to determine his education and intelligence if he were to agree to release his school records from High School through Harvard Law. I, for one, would like to know if he made as many C's in school as I did. Alas, he has opted to keep all those records from the public eye so we will never know in his lifetime.

Forgive me but I do take exception to your statement that the Republican core seems to have an inferiority complex as it relates to the "Educated Elites". What I do believe you will find is the vast majority of "Educated Elites" tend to be liberals and socialists, rather than conservative in their political leaning. The Republican core has nothing against education. It is liberalism and socialism they don't like.

By the way, who exactly are the "Educated Elites" and who named them "Elite"? :D

Seriously I think America should turn their back on the two parties; they have become a total farce.

A total boycott on voting for dems or reps would be a fresh air for a country which currently at the brink of collapse.

Exactly. Voting merely gives a facade of legitimacy to whatever corporate puppet gets elected. The naivete of those who put their faith in any party or leader of what is clearly now a fascist government is stunning.

oh dear, just imagine if she wins! :( The USA will become even more disliked then when Bush was strutting his stuff. she is a complete moron! just look at what she says, IF nobody else will do it then I will. <deleted> sort of attitude is that?

she should be shot now on site. it will do us all a favour.

It is kind of silly for others to try to claim that Republicans are somehow against intelligence or education. Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich are as educated and intelligent as any of the Democrats and there are plenty more where they came from.

In fact, many conservatives also seem to be much more gifted when it comes to common sense than Obama, Nancy Pelosi,Harry Reid and the like. :D

So the consensus is she's too dumb to be President, i wouldnt have thought we're the only ones who are enlightened .... those who pull the strings will be aware the average prole thinks as we do and she'll not get anywhere near taking office.

On the Obama intelligence debate he is a fantastic public speaker with his Teleprompter, but his ideology comes straight out of the student union bar, and his govt. is unaffordable ... as stoopid as Palin is, her spending is far more likely to add up.

With regards the Tea Party, surely an expat who enjoys the benefits of a country with low taxation, that has a govt. which doesnt interfere in every aspect of life would be a hypocrite to belittle it.wink.gif

The tea party is just warmed up Reaganism. They pine for an American era and ideal that never existed. They are heavily racist, heavily homophobic, anti-intellectual (witness many of their current lineup of idiotic candidates including the witch of Delaware), Christian theocratic telling lies about the founders who were solidly anti-theocratic, xenophobic, isolationist, and last but not least followers of insane media whore, Glenn Beck. They are a great danger to America if they ever take real power. They will make gains this midterm election, but I doubt their tea party infected republican nominee in 2012 will win because he or she will just be too extremely right wing. But of course its possible.

They are also total hypocrites. They want to cut but don't agree with any ways to increase revenue such as raising the social security cap or eliminating the mortgage deduction. They don't hate government programs, they just hate poor people and minorities getting too much benefit from them.

Sadly very true.

"No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

-- Henry Mencken

BTW, the R's may run Newt Gingrich who will run as a teabagger. He is of course a very intelligent man, and has a much better chance to beat Obama than Palin.

Academically speaking Bush jnr was the best educated President ever was he not? Plus he was a fighter pilot which is no small achievement ... whilst clearly not the best public speaker and certainly incompetent when it came to running an economy and a murderer when it came to Iraq ... i often thought there must have been more going on between his ears then people gave him credit for ... especially a media thats as left leaning as can be in the west on the whole.

No, not the best educated. True, he acted as a fighter pilot in the Texas National Guard, but never served in the Vietnam war (or any war) which was happening at the same time. It is a matter of debate whether the national guard service was a draft dodging gambit. Strong evidence of nepotism in his Harvard and Yale admissions.

EDUCATION:

* I entered Yale in 1964 with a SAT of 1206 (Verbal 566, Math 640), 200 points below Yale's average freshman in 1970.

* I graduated Yale in 1968 with a 2.35 GPA

* In the fall of 1970 I was rejected from admission at University of Texas Law School.

* In 1973 I applied to Harvard Business School with a 2.35 GPA. 1973 admission statistics are unavailable, but for an incomplete comparison today's Harvard students average a GPA of 3.5 - no students were accepted with a GPA lower than 2.6.

* I graduated Harvard Business School with an MBA and below-average grades.
