Farang Wife Thai Husband One Year Visa Extension

Featured Replies

Went for my annual visa extension today to find out that for the first time since I have started doing the extension in 1992 we had to produce two photos of us standing in front of our house (I had suspicions about this one having read previous reports), I had to draw a map to our house (not hard since i've lived there forever) and a new one, we needed to produce a Kor Ror 2 from the amphur (a more detailed registration of our marriage) the Kor Ror 3 (or regular certificate issued when we got married years ago) is no longer enough.

So, we supplied

2 copies of everything

My passport, visa pages, departure card

husbands tabien ban

husbands id card

his tax receipt

letter from puyaiban.

two photos of us standing in front of our house

hand drawn map to our house

Kor Ror 2 (available from any amphur)

Kor Ror 3 (marriage license, I think he kept this too)

two visa photos of me

and of course the usual forms from Immigration and 1900 baht.

Don't ya just love em! Immigration is a mystery to all of us.

An additional note, the Kor Ror 2 needs to be signed by the Nai Amphur where we got married since we married before 2540-apparently the one in the computer isn't the right kind (?) --this at least applies to Samui/Phangan and Tao islanders. No idea if this same rule applies elsewhere

Your records have not been put into the database so that is the reason they must be obtained at issuing office from my understanding. If in computer systems it should be fine (at least at most offices).

Admittingly going back several years, I was always under the impression that it was relatively easy to obtain permanent residence status for a foreign woman married to a Thai national. Is that not, or no longer, the case?
